Winter 2019 Thursday Walter Payton Men’s Comp Basketball – Week 8

Trees and Threes (5-2) vs. Wet Dream Team (2-5)

Earlier in the season, these teams tied, but it was Team Trees and Threes for the W in this meeting.  By the count of 55-46, Trees and Threes got a nice W, to earn their fourth-straight W against Wet Dream Team.  They really buckled down in this matchup, winning, despite scoring less than their average points per game of 77.4.  Elliot E had a good showing to lead the crew’s attack with 22 points while Vern added 13, Grey with 10, Aaron with 9 and Brad Harmon with 1.  Wet Dream Team really struggled to get it going in terms of scoring in this one, scoring less than their average of 65.6 PPG for the year.  Robert Czar scored 13 points for Wet Dream Team assisted by Eric Moeller’s 11 points, Garret Vanhal had 8, Taylor Dee and Christopher Rickert each added 6 and Alex Garvey had 2.  Trees and Threes finished the regular season in 3rd place. The loss for Wet Dream Team leaves them as the #9 seed heading into playoffs.

 

Premature Shooters (3-4) vs. Windy City Bulls (2-5)

Team Premature Shooters earned the W in this meeting.  Premature Shooters got a solid win by the score of 67-60 against Windy City Bulls.  These guys really brought their A game on defense, beating their season points against average of 69.0 points per game.  John Hayes had a solid night to lead the team’s attack with 21 points while Andrew Castagnetti and Andy T each added 10, Jeffery Collins had 8, Casey Hanrahan added 7, John V with 6 and Chris Cheng with 5.  The leading scorer for Windy City Bulls was Brandon Taylor who put in 23 points.  Bill Baffes assisted Brandon with 15 points while Kevin Jackson added 12, Leonard Garron with 6 and Jack Mallers with 5.  Premature Shooters finished the regular season in 5th place.  The loss for Windy City Bulls leaves them as the #8 seed heading into playoffs.

 

One Time (7-0) vs. Extra Moist (3-4)

Earlier in the season, these teams tied, but it was Team One Time for the win in this meeting.  One Time got a win by the score of 64-61, to stay unbeaten against Extra Moist.  They buckled down in this one, winning, despite scoring less than their average points per game of 77.3.   Aj Adekoya had a strong game to help get the group the victory with 18 points while Tony Moeaki added 16, Dan Buoniconti with 12, Sam Carlson and Fabs each added 7, and David had 4.  Even in a losing effort, Robert Mischler had a massive game to lead the club’s attack with 27 points. Followed closely by henry Biermann with 12 and Ben Rogers with 11, Hendrik G also added 9 and Andrew Bargmann had 2.   One Time finished the regular season in 1st place, and they will play the winner of the 8th vs 9th place play-in game.  This loss for Extra Moist pushes them down to the #6 seed.

 

Time to Ball (3-4) vs. Past Our Prime (0-7)

Team Time to Ball for the win in this meeting.  Time to Ball got a solid win by the score of 71-64 against Past Our Prime.  This team brought it on defense in this one, beating their season points against average of 78.7 points per game.  Jimmy Martin had a gargantuan week to guide the team’s attack with 25 points followed closely by Raymond Lichter with 24 points, Chris Stamas added 15, Brendan Lynch had 4, and Mike Wilson added 3.  Despite the loss, Past Our Prime really played their A game on offense in this game, besting their average of 55.4 points per game for the season.  Dan Bruno accounted for 23 points for Past Our Prime.  Time to Ball finished the regular season in 7th place.  It was a rough regular season for Past Our Prime, who finished as the 10th place seed.

 

LFG (6-1) vs. Abusement Park (4-3)

Earlier in the season, these teams tied, but it was Team LFG for the W in this meeting.  LFG got a solid victory by the score of 73-65, to get their fifth-straight win against Abusement Park.   Luke F lead the way in the squad win with 24 points. While Sterling Williams added19, Jordan Gipson had 12, Sean Anthony added 8, Chad Murphy contributed 6, Andrew Ondik and Eric Garth each helped with 2.   The leading scorer for Abusement Park was Chris S who put up a solid 23 points, Michael Wisor added 12, Andy with 10, Kevin Reed had 8, Mathew Schnick and Nuss each contributed 6.  LFG finished the regular season in 2nd place, and they will play the winner of the 7th vs 10th place play-in game.  The loss for Abusement Park leaves them as the #4 seed heading into playoffs.
