Team Awesome (3-4) vs. CDM Media Ballers (2-3-1) – Monday, October 08, and 2018
It was an exciting Play-in game, in which the #17 seed, Team Awesome, squeaked by with a 1-point after ending OT in a tie against the #16 seed, CDM Media Ballers. The MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for Team Awesome, Trevor Wolf , who was able to block that last kick, and Victor R, Simon Lockwood-Bean, Trevor Wolf, Evan Williamson, Andrea Joyner, and Laura Penza who made it in the goal during the shootout. Winning this play-in game means Team Awesome advanced to Quarter-Finals. Without much of a rest, they jumped straight into that game the same night. No one expected this Play-in game to be such a close one. Winded City, the #1 seed barely won in this close 1-point game to beat the #17 seed, Team Awesome. The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for Winded City, Brett Myers, who had a shutout, and Edgar G who scored the only goal of the game. Team Awesome had a double header. If they had only this game, it might have been a different result. Winded City continues on their road to victory. They’ll take on the winner of the #8 vs #9 seed game . Winded City are the first seed but anything can happen in playoffs. Hopefully the loss doesn’t haunt Team Awesome too much. There’s always next season.
Gaan Span (5-0-1) vs. The Renewable Machine (3-4) – Monday, October 08, and 2018
Gaan Span, the #2 seed, played The Renewable Machine, the #15 seed, in this Play-in game. This is the second week in a row Gaan Span took home the win. Shout out to the goalkeeper for Gaan Span, Jessica Ponticelli, who had a shutout, and Scott Dunwell who scored all three goals in the game. Gaan Span will continue on their road to victory. They’ll take on the winner of the #7 vs. #10 seed game . This was one of two games for The Renewable Machine this week. This was the tougher match of the two. Unfortunately for The Renewable Machine, this loss means the end of their season.
Kick Acidosis (3-4) vs. INDY Team #18 (2-3-1) – Monday, October 08, and 2018
Heading into this Play-in game, INDY Team #18 was the #13 seed facing the #20 seed, Kick Acidosis. With their higher rank, INDY Team #18 went into this game thinking they would be going on to the next round. With a final score of 4-0, Kick Acidosis grabbed this W. Kick Acidosis’s goalkeeper Trevor Barnum, deserves a shout out for helping blank the INDY Team #18’s offense. Azad karim, Muhammad Mutawakkil, Andrew Nestlehut, and Sergio Cruz each led their team to victory by scoring one goal each. The win for Kick Acidosis meant a ticket to the next round of play-in games. It also means they had another game in the same night. They weren’t the favored team, but Kick Acidosis, the #20 seed upset the #4 seed, INDY team 3, in this Play-in match. INDY team 3 were unable to get rolling on offense in this game and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. This is the end of the road for INDY team 3’s run in this league. There’s always next season! Kick Acidosis came ready for a double header. They won both matches, which means they’re officially heating up! Kick Acidosis’s goalkeeper, Trevor Bauman, deserves much of the credit after earning a shut out. Azad Karim and Muhammed Mutawakkil both led their team to victory to help earn the team the win. Kick Acidosis continues on their road to the championship.

In this exciting 1-point Play-in game, LPSE, the #11 seed upset the #6 seed, Avocado Disco Balls. Avocado Disco Balls struggled to get it going on offense in this game and couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. Avocado Disco Balls is done with playoffs, which means it’s time for a team meeting at the bar to regroup for next season! This was one of two games for LPSE. Impressively, they won both matches and increased their total goals scored. The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for LPSE, Embibel Gebre, who had a shutout, and Antonio Desario who scored the only goal of the game. LPSE will play the #3 seed Game of Throw In’s next week in the quarter-finals.
