For Fuchs Sake (6-0-1) vs. Tanglers (0-7) – Sunday, June 3, 2018
In this Round 1 game, the #1 seed, For Fuchs Sake, took on the #16 seed, Tanglers. Tanglers didn’t have their best stuff in terms of scoring in this one, and failed to make it onto the scoreboard. Tanglers had a bumpy run this season, and this loss signals the end of that. Neal Johanson is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for For Fuchs Sake, and Chad Strader led the offensive charge in this playoff win for For Fuchs Sake, who continue on their road to victory. Next week, they will face the #6 seeded team, INDY Team #3. They played each other earlier this season in week and won, we’ll see if history repeats itself next week.

Toe Ballers (6-1) vs. The Slide Tacklers (0-6-1) – Sunday, June 3, 2018
No one expected this Round 1 game to be such a close one. Toe Ballers, the #2 seed just squeaked by by just 1-point game to beat the #15 seed, The Slide Tacklers. Though the fell below their average 3 GpG, The Ballers continued to show their offensive prowess against some tough D. Lauren led the offense, putting one shot past the The Slide Tacklers goalkeeper, Blake Bankwitz. Winning this Round 1 game means Toe Ballers advances to Quarter-Finals, in which they will face the #8 seeded team, EY FAAS. Toe Ballers are the favored team on paper, but anything can happen in playoffs. The Slide Tacklers really brought their best on D in this game in spite of the loss, holding the offensively strong Ballers to less than their season average. Ben Terdich scored the only goal for The Slide Tacklers to prevent the shut out. This is the end of the road for The Slide Tacklers’s run in this league, thankfully there’s always next season!

Squad (5-0-2) vs. Bend It Through Brunch (0-5-2) – Sunday, June 3, 2018
In this first round, the #2 seed, Squad, took on the #14 seed, Bend It Through Brunch. The last time these two teams met in week 4, Squad won 4-0, and history proved to repeat itself this time around.  Squad have consistently shown they are an attacking team, averaging 3 goals per game, and brought that same energy in this 5-1 victory. Ryan Casserby leads Squad this season in scoring and added 2 goals to their stats sheet, bringing Ryan Casserby’s personal total to 8. Bend It Through Brunch, on the other hand, have struggled offensively all season tallying only 4 goals. Kyle Bowers scored the only goal for Bend It Through Brunch to save their team from embarrassment. Winning this Round 1 game means Squad advances to Quarter-Finals. Next week, they will face the #8 seeded team, PenaltEY Kicks. Last time the two played each other the game ended in a 2-2 draw, so it should be an exciting game. This is the end of the road for Bend It Through Brunch’s run in this league. There’s always next season!

Hangover United (5-2) vs. Bain Soccer (2-5) – Sunday, June 3, 2018
The #13 seed, Bain Soccer, forfeited to the #4 seed, Hangover United.  Winning this Round 1 game means Hangover United advances to Quarter-Finals. Next week, they will face the #4 seeded team, Kickin’ It. Hangover United are the underdog, but anything can happen in playoffs. This was Bain Soccer’s second forfeit of the season, likely disqualifying them from partaking in playoffs. Bain Soccer is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

Kickin’ It (5-2) vs. FC United CF (2-4-1) – Sunday, June 3, 2018
It was an exciting Round 1 match, in which the #4 seed, Kickin’ It, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #12 seed, FC United CF. FC United CF really struggled to stop anything on the defensive end in this one, allowing more goals than their average of 2.1 goals against per game for the season. FC United CF is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.  Kickin’ It continue on their road to victory. Next week, they will face the #4 seeded team, Hangover United. Kickin’ It are the underdog by 1 seed, but anything can happen in playoffs.

PenaltEY Kicks (3-3-1) vs. Coco FC (4-3) – Sunday, June 3, 2018
Coco FC came into this match confident and rested after a weeklong break due to forfit. They were the #6 seed facing the #8 seed, PenaltEY Kicks. With their higher rank and momentum from last week, Coco FC went into this game thinking they had a great advantage, but with a final score of 2-1, PenaltEY Kicks grabbed this W. Simeon Washington did all the scoring for PenaltEY Kicks in this game getting 2 past, including the game-winning goal. The win for PenaltEY Kicks means a ticket to quarter-finals.  Next week, they will face the #2 seeded team, Squad. These two teams have history, they matched up in week 3 and finished with a 2-2 tie. Meng Yan scored the only goal for Coco FC to prevent the shut out. On the bright side for Coco FC, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season.

EY FAAS (3-3-1) vs. UCFC (3-3-1) – Sunday, June 3, 2018
It was an exciting Round 1 game, in which the #8 seed, EY FAAS, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #8 seed, UCFC. Alex Debbink leads EY FAAS this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week bringing Alex Debbink’s personal total to 2. UCFC were unable to get rolling on offense in this game, scoring fewer than their average of 2.1 goals per game this year. Kevin Eisele scored the only goal for UCFC to prevent the shut out. EY FAAS continue on their road to victory. Next week they’ll take on the #2 seed, Toe Ballers. EY FAAS are the underdogs, but anything can happen in playoffs. UCFC is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

INDY Team #3 (4-3) vs. Shooters Shoot (3-4) – Sunday, June 3, 2018
In this Round 1 game, the #6 seed, INDY Team #3, took on the #11 seed, Shooters Shoot. They’re on fire on both ends of the field, Alex Dichiara is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for INDY Team #3. Helping on the offense, Daniel Silberwasser was among those who scored in this playoff win for INDY Team #3. The win for INDY Team #3 means a ticket to quarter-finals.  Next week, they will face the #1 seeded team, For Fuchs Sake. They’ll take on the #1 seed, For Fuchs Sake. INDY Team #3 are the underdogs but anything can happen in playoffs. Shooters Shoot’s loss means they are done in this single-elimination playoff schedule.
