Spring 2018 Sat DePaul Men’s Rec Basketball – Week 8

Team Roberson (6-2) vs. Cheeky Teasers (0-8) – Saturday, June 16, and 2018
In this Quarter-Final game, the #1 seed, Team Roberson, took on the #6 seed, Cheeky Teasers. Team Roberson earned a solid tally in the win column by the score of 76-65. Donald Banks had a monster game and handled the bulk of the offense with 42 points, and is now the leading scorer in the league with 19.88 points per game. Cheeky Teasers really played their A game on offense in this one despite losing, exceeding their average of 40.8 points per game this year by over 50%. Even in a losing effort, Mark Pelka had a tremendous performance to lead the club’s attack with 27 points. Team Roberson advances semi-finals where they’ll take on the #1 ranked team, Pound Cake (6-2-0). These two teams have history. They matched up in week 3 with Pound Cake emerging as the victor 61-57. On the bright side for Cheeky Teasers, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season.

Havas (3-5) vs. INDY Team #4 (3-6) – Saturday, June 16, and 2018
Havas grabbed the W in this Quarter-Final matchup by a comfortable margin with a final score of 64-47. These guys really showed up in this game, exceeding their points per game average of 41.0. Christian Leyba had a strong game to spearhead the team’s attack with 17 points. This win was their fourth-straight and they are in their groove right now. INDY Team #4 really were unable to get rolling in this game, scoring fewer than their average of 64.3 points per game for the season. Even in a losing effort, Jack Creager had a gigantic game to lead the group’s offense with 27 points. The win for Havas meant a straight shot to semi-finals. They played this game immediately following the quarter-final game. The recap below tells you all about it. Hopefully the loss doesn’t haunt INDY Team #4 too much. There’s always next season.

Pound Cake (6-2) vs. Havas (3-5) – Saturday, June 16, and 2018
In this Semi-Final game, the #1 seed, Pound Cake, took on the #4 seed, Havas. This game was a defensive showdown, and Pound Cake got a great win by the score of 48-29. They really showed up on D in this one, beating their season points against average of 47.9 PPG. Dalton Wagler had a quality performance on O to help gain the club the win with 23 points. Havas really struggled to get it going in this game, scoring fewer than their average of 41.0 points per game for the year. Christian Leyba went for 17 points for Havas. The win for Pound Cake advances them to the championship game where they’ll take on the #1 seed, Team Roberson (6-2-0). Havas is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

Team Roberson (6-2) vs. Brick by Brick (6-2) – Saturday, June 16, and 2018
In this competitive Semi-Final matchup Team Roberson got a victory by the score of 59-54 to notch their sixth-straight win against Brick by Brick. This team really fought hard for this battle, emerging victorious, despite being held to well below their season average of 83.1 points per game. Donald Banks had a massive game to help earn the team the win with 27 points. Brick by Brick really struggled to get it going on offense in this one, scoring less than their average of 72.1 points per game for the season. The leading scorer for Brick by Brick was Omar Sidiqian who had a solid showing with 23 points. The win for Team Roberson advances them to the championship game where they’ll take on the #1 seed, Pound Cake (6-2-0). Brick by Brick is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.
