Soccer McSoccerface (5-2) vs. Extreme Programming FC (1-6) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
As they did earlier in the year, Soccer McSoccerface won the second go-around against Extreme Programming FC in this first round of the playoffs. This game finished with a final score of 3-0. Extreme Programming FC didn’t have their best stuff in terms of scoring in this one and failed to make it onto the scoreboard. Soccer McSoccerface are heating up with two wins in a row. The club’s goalkeeper Salil Gupta is credited with the shutout. To help earn the club the W, Madison Hobbs scored one goal. Unfortunately, this loss for Extreme Programming FC means the end of their season, there’s always next year! Next up for Soccer McSoccerface is a pairing against Shin-guardium Leviosa in the second round of playoffs (4-2-0).
LPSE (4-2-1) vs. Mene Genes (0-6-1) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
LPSE were amazing in this shut out against Mene Genes with a final score of 6-0. LPSE brought their A game in this one, doubling their average of 3.0 goals per game. Ronaldo Vega handled the offense and earned a hat trick with three goals. Pitch Perfect (4-2-0) are next up on the calendar for LPSE in the second round, as they look to keep it going. Mene Genes were unable to get rolling on offense in this game and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. Unfortunately, this loss for Mene Genes means the end of their season, there’s always next year!
Angels in the Midfield (3-2-2) vs. Uncle Chuck Rivers (1-6) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
Angels in the Midfield put on a show on both sides of the pitch against Uncle Chuck Rivers with a final score of 3-0. Angels in the Midfield brought it in this one, surpassing their average of 2.3 goals per game. Their goalkeeper Hal Brown was a brick wall and is credited with the clean sheet. To help earn the team the win, Alan Ward accounted for two goals. Game of Throw-Ins (4-2-0) are next up on the calendar for Angels in the Midfield, as they look to keep it going, and further advance into the playoffs with a win. This loss knocked Uncle Chuck out for the season, but we know they’ll come back better than ever next year!
Avocado Discoballs (4-2-1) vs. INDY Team #18 (1-6) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
In this match, Avocado Discoballs routed INDY Team #18 7-1. Chris Mueller leads Avocado Discoballs this season in scoring and added 2 goals to his stats this week Mueller’s personal total to 4. Shin-guardium Leviosa (4-2-0) are next up on the docket for Avocado Discoballs, as they look to keep it going with their eyes on the championship prize. Ray Crosby scored the only goal for INDY Team #18 to get their team on the board, but unfortunately his efforts were not enough and he’ll have to wait until next year to do it again.
Little Italy F.C. (3-2-3) vs. Daddy’s Other Family (0-4-3) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
Earlier in the season these teams tied, and history nearly repeated itself, but Little Italy F.C. grabbed a 3-2 OT win against Daddy’s Other Family in this rematch. Daddy’s Other Family really struggled defensively in this one, allowing more goals than their average of 2.7 GAPG for the year. The losing team still had notable players including Alex Flack, who scored one for the squad. Unfortunately, this loss for Daddy’s Other Family means the end of their season, there’s always next year! Little Italy F.C. came ready for a double header. This was the better played match, which helped them lock in their #13 rank in the standings table. Luke Hagerty kicked two goals to help get the squad the victory. Next up for Little Italy F.C. is a date versus Winded City as they look to keep it going.
INDY Team #5 (2-5-1) vs. GT Soccer (3-4) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
INDY Team #5 and GT Soccer competed a nail-biter up to the last minute with a final score of 4-3. This week, INDY Team #5 came ready for a double header. This was the better played match, which helped them lock in their #18 rank in the standings table. Nick Stuedemann earned a hat trick with three goals to help get the club the victory. Nice For What are next up on the schedule for INDY Team #5, as they look to move deeper into their bracket. GT Soccer really gave it their all on the defensive end in this one in spite of the loss, allowing less than their average of GAPG for the season. The losing team still had notable players including Sam Johnson, who kicked two goals for GT Soccer. Next up for GT Soccer is a break until they come back better next season, see you then!
Jellyshots (2-4-2) vs. Team Awesome (2-3-2) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
Earlier in the season, these teams tied, but Jellyshots grabbed a 4-1 win against Team Awesome in this rematch. Team Awesome really didn’t have their best stuff in this game, scoring less than their average of 2.1 goals per game this year. Despite their efforts, unfortunately this loss for Team Awesome means the end of their season, there’s always next year! This was one of two games for Jellyshots. This was the better played match, which helped them claim their #17 rank in the standings table. Joshua Roberts scored two goals to spearhead the team’s offense. Next up for Jellyshots is a pairing against PWsoCcer as they look to get a dub and advance to the next round.
Loose Balls (4-4) vs. Fist City FC (2-5) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
In this match, Loose Balls spanked Fist City FC 5-1. Loose Balls was fired up for a double header this week. They won both matches and increased their total goals scored to 20. Daniel Nelson kicked two goals to lead the group’s offensive charge. TBD are next up on the schedule for Loose Balls, as they look to keep it going. Don scored the only goal for Fist City FC to save his team from embarrassment. This loss knocked Fist City FC out for the season, but we know they’ll come back better than ever next year!
Loose Balls (4-4) vs. Suck My Kick (4-2-1) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
The underdog, Loose Balls (currently ranked 14th in the league) upset the favored Suck My Kick (currently ranked 9th) in a nail-biter by a final score of 3-2. Loose Balls had two games this week, and incredibly, they won both matches helping to boost them to the #14 rank in the standings. Daniel Nelson netted one goal to secure the W for the squad. Despite losing and their season ending, Suck My Kick had a great offensive season, and should be proud of their 23 goals. Loose Balls opponent in the next round will be determined by some matches to come, they’d better be ready.
PWsoCcer (6-1) vs. Jellyshots (2-4-2) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
Just like earlier in the season, PWsoCcer won the second go-around against Jellyshots. This game finished with a final score of 6-2. PWsoCcer really brought it, exceeding their average of 3.0 goals per game. Phillip Mahere scored a hat trick with three goals to lead the group’s attack. Jellyshots had two games this week. In contrast to their other game, the defense crumbled in critical moments, and they now sit in 17th place in the standings and are knocked out for the season. Joshua Roberts was the star player for Jellyshots this week. They scored all two goals for their team. Next up for PWsoCcer is a date against an opponent that will be determined by games to come.
Nice For What (5-0-2) vs. INDY Team #5 (2-5-1) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
Nice For What absolutely dominated this game in shut out fashion against INDY Team #5 with a final score of 5-0. Nice For What are heating up with two wins in a row. The club’s goalkeeper made sure INDY Team #5 would not score. Jamie Cheslik led his team to victory with 2 goals and had help from a few other players who kicked one in. INDY Team #5 had two games this week. In contrast to their other game, the defense crumbled in critical moments, and they now sit in 18th place in the standings and thus are eliminated for the season. Nice For What will look to stay perfect next week with a date against a TBD team.
Winded City (5-0-2) vs. Little Italy F.C. (3-2-3) – Monday, July 30, and 2018
Winded City were amazing in this shut out against Little Italy F.C. with a final score of 4-0. Little Italy F.C. had two games this week. They struggled in this match, and they now sit in 13th place in the standings. This loss knocked Fist City FC out for the season, but we know they’ll come back better than ever next year! Winded City continued their winning streak this week and are officially on fire. The team’s goalie played lockdown and earned a clean sheet. To guide the team’s attack, Jack Wiesenmayer and Andy Malnor each kicked one to split the offensive weight. Winded City will look to stay unblemished on Monday with a pairing against a TBD team as they look to advance further into the bracket.
