Neymar Team For Us (7-0) vs. Might be Messi (0-6-1) – Monday, June 4, 2018
In this Round 1 game, #1 seed Neymar Team For Us, took on #16 seed, Might be Messi.  Might be Messi didn’t have their best stuff in this one, and came short of making it onto the scoreboard.  Mike Giannola is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Neymar Team For Us. Danny Balogh and Taylor Lydon led the offensive charge tallying a goal a piece for Neymar Team For Us. This is the end of the road for Might be Messi’s run in this league, but there’s always next season!  Winning this Round 1 game means Neymar Team For Us advances to Quarter-Finals in which they will face the #9 seeded team, FC Healthscape. They played each other earlier this season in week 2 and Neymar Team For Us won 2-0, they will hope history repeats itself next week.

INDY Team #3 (6-1) vs. Wintrust FC (0-5-2) – Monday, June 4, 2018
No one expected this Round 1 game to be such a close one. INDY Team #3, the #2 seed just squeaked by in this 1-point game to beat the #15 seed, Wintrust FC. INDY Team #3 seems to have found their groove and has won two games in a row. Casey Merkle was the offensive engine in this playoff win for INDY Team #3, putting two shots past the Wintrust FC goalkeeper, Grant Kazan. The win for INDY Team #3 means a ticket to quarter-finals in which they will face the #7 seeded team, LPSE. The teams played each other earlier this season in week 5 and INDY Team #3 won 2-1 in another close game. They hope to have the same success in the rematch. Despite the loss, Wintrust FC really showed growth on offense in this game, beating their average of 1.3 goals per game this year. Unfortunately despite this, this loss means the end of their season for Wintrust FC.

Winded City (6-1) vs. Fist City FC (1-3-3) – Monday, June 4, 2018
In this Round 1 game #3 seed, Winded City, took on #14 seed, Fist City FC. Omar Robins scored the only goal for Fist City FC to save their team from embarrassment. The loss means the end of the road for Fist City FC’s run in this league, but there’s always next season! To the contrary, Winded City are having a phenomenal offensive season, averaging 4 goals per game. J.T leads the squad in scoring and added 4 goals this week, bringing his personal total to 11, the highest in the league. The win for Winded City means sends them to quarter-finals.  Next week, they will face the #6 seeded team, Avocado Discoballs, hoping to build on their momentum.

Penthouse Pumpkins (2-4-1) vs. JNAM FC (3-4) – Monday, June 4, 2018
In this tight 1-point Round 1 game Penthouse Pumpkins, the #13 seed, upset the #4 seed, JNAM FC.  Devin McParlane, Joel Conzelmann, and Nate Kleinman each got one shot past the JNAM FC goalkeeper, Phil Cygan in the win for Penthouse Pumpkins. The W for Penthouse Pumpkins punched their ticket to quarter-finals in which they will face the #5 seeded team, Dribble Fo’Shizzle. The pair met earlier this season in week 5 and Penthouse Pumpkins routed them 3-0, we’ll see if history repeats itself next week. JNAM FC played their A game on D in this one. Konrad Malyszko was the star player for JNAM FC this week. They scored all two goals for their team. Unfortunately for JNAM FC, this loss means the end of their season.

Dribble Fo’Shizzle (5-2) vs. All Keepers (1-5-1) – Monday, June 4, 2018
In this Round 1 game, the #5 seed, Dribble Fo’Shizzle, took on the #12 seed, All Keepers. All Keepers struggled to get it going on the offensive end in this one, and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. This is the end of the road for All Keepers’s run in this league, better luck next year! Dribble Fo’Shizzle are heating up with two consecutive W’s. Andrew Lively is the goalkeeper credited with the shutting out All Keepers. As for the team’s offense, responsibility was shared between Nick Ernst, William McFarland, and Andrew Rottenberg, who each scored a goal each in this playoff win for Dribble Fo’Shizzle. Winning this Round 1 game means Dribble Fo’Shizzle advances to Quarter-Finals. Next week, they will face the #13 seeded team, Penthouse Pumpkins. They played each other earlier this season in week 5 and Dribble Fo’Shizzle took a tough 3-0 loss. They hope history doesn’t repeat itself next week in the rematch.

Avocado Discoballs (4-1-2) vs. INDY Team #15 (2-5) – Monday, June 4, 2018
Heading into this Round 1 game, INDY Team #15 were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 4 goals last week. Despite their recent offensive fire, INDY Team #15 were ice-cold on the offensive end in this game and couldn’t seem to find the back of the net in the loss. Avocado Discoballs were the higher ranked #6 seed playing the #11 seed, but still just barely took the win to advance to the next round. The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for Avocado Discoballs, Chris Mueller, who had a shutout, and John Nguyen who scored the only goal of the game. Avocado Discoballs continue on their road to victory. Next week, they will face the #3 seeded team, Winded City. Avocado Discoballs are considerable underdogs, but anything can happen in playoffs. Hopefully the loss doesn’t haunt INDY Team #15 too much.

LPSE (4-2-1) vs. INDY Team #6 (1-3-3) – Monday, June 4, 2018
It was an exciting Round 1 game, in which the #7 seed, LPSE, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #10 seed, INDY Team #6. Sharief El-Gabri did all the scoring for LPSE in this game, including the game-winning goal. Winning this Round 1 game means LPSE advances to Quarter-Finals. Next week, they will face the #2 seeded team, INDY Team #3. They played each other earlier this season in week 5 and INDY Team #3 won 2-1. We’ll see if history repeats itself next week. INDY Team #6 really were unable to get rolling on the offensive end in this game, scoring less than their average of 1.6 GPG for the year. Christopher Cupp scored the only goal for INDY Team #6 to save their team from embarrassment. INDY Team #6 is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

FC Healthscape (3-2-2) vs. GT Soccer (3-4) – Monday, June 4, 2018
In this Round 1 game, the #8 seed, GT Soccer, took on the #9 seed, FC Healthscape.  Jayant Trewn was among those who scored in this playoff win for FC Healthscape, putting one shot past the GT Soccer goalkeeper, Evan Theodoropoulos. The squad continue forward on their road to victory, next week facing the #1 seeded team, Neymar Team For Us. FC Healthscape hopes to redeem their 2-0 loss to Neymar Team For Us in week 2. GT Soccer struggled to get it going on offense in this game, scoring less than their average of 1.6 goals per game for the year. Sam Johnson scored the only goal for GT Soccer to prevent the shut out. GT Soccer is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.
