Fall 2018 Wednesday Montrose 11v11 Soccer – Week 7

Blue Guys (5-0-2) vs. Reside Living (0-7) – Wednesday, November 07, and 2018

The #1 seed, Blue Guys, matched up against the #8 seed, Reside Living in this quarter-final game. The last time these two teams met in week 2, Blue Guys won 7-0. The results weren’t much different this time around.   Mike Taylor is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Blue Guys. Helping on the offense, Jim Torres and Erik Jung were among those who scored in this playoff win for Blue Guys. Reside Living struggled to get it going in this game, and they’ve only had 2 goals this season. The win for Blue Guys means a ticket to semi-finals. They’re scheduled to play Zombies!. When they played each other earlier this season, it was a tight match resulting in a 0-0 tie. Reside Living is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

 

Train Wreck (6-2) vs. INDY Team #5 (1-6) – Wednesday, November 07, and 2018

In this quarter-final game, the #2 seed, Train Wreck, took on the #7 seed, INDY Team #5. Train Wreck seems to have found their groove and has won two games in a row. Jason Bates is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Train Wreck. Helping on the offense, Kelly, Franky Contreras, Dan Milberg, and Graham were among those who kicked a goal in this playoff win for Train Wreck. This week’s win advances Train Wreck to semi-finals. They’ll face the #3 ranked team, Toe Ballers in a rematch. Last time they played each other Train Wreck won 3-0. INDY Team #5 was unable to get rolling on offense in this one and failed to make it onto the scoreboard. INDY Team #5 is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

 

Toe Ballers (6-2) vs. Kick in a Box (2-4-1) – Wednesday, November 07, and 2018

Heading into this quarter-final game, Kick in a Box were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 4 goals last week. Additionally, they were the higher ranked #3 seed playing the #6 seed, Kick in a Box. They just barely took the win to advance to semi-finals. Kick in a Box really struggled defensively in this one, giving up more goals than their average of 1.4 goals against per game for the year. Kelsey scored the only goal for Kick in a Box to get their team on the board. Kick In A Box is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.  Matt leads Toe Ballers this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week bringing Matt ‘s personal total to 7. The win for Toe Ballers means a ticket to semi-finals. They’re scheduled to play the #2 ranked team, Train Wreck. When they played each other earlier this season, Train Wreck won 3-0.

 

Zombies! (3-2-2) vs. Alright Alright Alright (3-3-1) – Wednesday, November 07, and 2018

The 4th place vs 5th place game is always one of the most exciting matches of the playoff bracket. After ending in a tie, and having to go into a shootout, by the final score of 3-2, Zombies! grabbed this W. These teams had similar season records and nearly matched in total goals scored, 10 for Zombies!, and 7 for Alright Alright Alright.  Craig Shoger and Angel M both scored in this playoff win for Zombies!, putting one shot each past the Alright Alright Alright goalkeeper, Nate O’Neil. This week’s win advances Zombies! to semi-finals. They’ll face Blue Guys in a rematch. Last time they played each other the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The losing team still had notable players including Nate O’Neil and Ryan Smith, who kicked one goal for Alright Alright Alright. Unfortunately for Alright Alright Alright, this loss means the end of their season.
