Fall 2018 Saturday Lincoln Park Coed Rec/Int 8v8 Soccer – Week 6

FC Chell (4-1-2) vs. INDY Team #8 (1-5) – Saturday, October 27, and 2018

With two games on their schedule this week, FC Chell used this game against INDY Team #8 to give them an extra win before playoffs with a final score of 7-0. Their goalie Alejandro Sigala made sure the INDY Team #8 would not score. To help gain the club the win, Tucker M kicked two goals. Also kicking one goal each was Matthew Polky, Val Ortiz, Meghan Cabell, Austin Roof, and Jeff Cassidy. It’s time for playoffs! FC Chell is heating up with this week’s win, which lands them in 3rd place at the end of the regular season. Can they keep the streak going when they play the #6 team, Chicago Cougars? The last time these teams met, FC Chell won 5-2. INDY Team #8 was unable to get rolling in this one, and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. This loss for INDY Team #8 pushes them down to the #8 seed. They’ll face the #9 seeded team, The Tanglers (0-5-1).

 

Jimmy Saville’s U10s (5-1-1) vs. Squad Goals (6-0-1) – Saturday, October 27, and 2018

In a nail-biter for movement in the standings table at the end of the season, Jimmy Saville’s U10s and Squad Goals finished with a draw of 1-1 to earn just 1 point each. Jimmy Saville’s U10s used their 1 goal scored in this game to boost their total goals this season to 19. For Jimmy Saville’s U10s, Willie Filin fired one goal to provide some scoring. This week’s tie locked in Jimmy Saville’s U10s for the #2 seed going into playoffs. Next week they face Bend It Like Bote. The last time these teams played each other, Jimmy Saville’s U10s won 2-0. This is Squad Goals’s first tie this season and they’re currently sitting in first place in the standings. Adam Kunkel was the star player for Squad Goals this week. He scored the only goal for his team. They will take on the winner of the #8 vs. #9 seed game in the quarter-finals.

 

FC Chell (4-1-2) vs. Chicago Cougars (2-4-1) – Saturday, October 27, and 2018

FC Chell beat the Chicago Cougars 5-2. Chicago Cougars really didn’t have their best showing in this game, surrendering more goals than their average of 2.7 goals against per game for the year. Guillermo was the star player for Chicago Cougars this week. He scored both goals for his team. This week’s loss didn’t help their record for playoffs. Oddly enough, Chicago Cougars ended up as the #6 seed, and they will get to have their revenge rematch in the first round of playoffs. They’ll once again face the #3 seeded team, FC Chell (4-1-2). This week, FC Chell was fired up for a double header. Both matches were victories, which means they’re officially heating up! Shoutout to Angela Zirk kicked her first goal of the season this week! Also providing some scoring for FC Shell was Matthew Polky, Jeff Cassidy, and Austin Roof who kicked one, one, and two goals respectively. We’ll see if FC Chell can keep their streak going while Chicago Cougars seek their revenge.

 

Man Chest Hair City (3-2-2) vs. Bain Ballers (2-3-1) – Saturday, October 27, and 2018

Man Chest Hair City grabbed the victory over Bain Ballers 4-2 in this week’s match. Jean Pierre Valencia scored a hat trick with three goals, and Angel kicked one to help gain the club the win. Despite losing, Bain Ballers genuinely did everything they could on defense. The losing team still had notable players including Aaron Faison, who kicked one goal for Bain Ballers. Man Chest Hair City’s win this week solidified their spot as the #4 seed in the playoff bracket. Bain Ballers, finished as the #5 seed. Interestingly these two teams will rematch in the first round of playoffs.

 

Bend It Like Bote (2-4-1) vs. The Tanglers (0-5-1) – Saturday, October 27, and 2018

Bend It Like Bote and The Tanglers were very even in this contest and ended all tied up by the final count of 2-2. Bend It Like Bote used their 2 goals scored in this game to boost their total goals this season to 6. For Bend It Like Bote, Nora M and Bernie O’Donnell each scored one goal to provide some scoring. This week’s tie locked in Bend It Like Bote for the #7 seed going into playoffs. Next week they face Jimmy Saville’s U10s. The last time these teams played each other, Jimmy Saville’s U10s won 2-0. This is The Tanglers’s first tie this season and they’re currently sitting in ninth place in the standings. In the tie, Rob Larson and Geoff Vasudevan each scored one goal for The Tanglers. The tie for The Tanglers didn’t do much for them since they are still in last place, 9th seed, for the playoffs. They take on the #8 seed team, INDY Team #8 (1-5-0), in the first round of playoffs.
