Winter 2019 Wednesday Lake St Soccer- Week 8

Finn’s Team (6-1) vs. IGFC (1-5-1) – Wednesday, March 27, 2019

In this Semi-Final game, the #1 seed, Finn’s Team, took on the #4 seed, IGFC. With a final score of 11-7 Finn’s Team achieves a big win!  Finn’s Team are having a fantastic offensive season.  They’re averaging 10 goals per game.  Sameer Dhavalikar leads Finn’s Team this season in scoring and added 4 goals to their stats this week bringing Sameer Dhavalikar’s personal total to 24, which is the highest in the league.  They dominated in the regular season, and it’s no surprise Finn’s Team advanced to the Championship game.  In spite of the loss, IGFC has been doing great on offense so far, with a total of 40 goals. They still had notable players including Rory and Ross, who each kicked three goals while Hector added one for IGFC.  IGFC is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

Akuna Capital (3-4) vs. INDY Team #3 (3-3-1) – Wednesday, March 27, 2019

It was an exciting Semi-Final match-ups, in which the #3 seed, Akuna Capital, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #2 seed, INDY Team #3 with a final score of 5-4.  This win is the second in a row for Akuna Capital, and it bumps them to 3rd place in the standings.  Nathaniel Rub and Dani Ben-Reuven was among those who scored in this playoff win for Akuna Capital, each putting two shots past the INDY Team #3 goalkeeper while Eric Evans added one goal.  The exciting win for Akuna Capital advanced them to the championship game.  Despite losing, INDY Team #3 has been doing great on offense so far, with a total of 51 goals. They still had notable players including Nandakumar Bakthisaran, who had three goals for INDY Team #3.  INDY Team #3’s loss means they are done in this single-elimination playoff schedule.
