Headers & Shoulders 2 (5-3-1) vs. Velvet Taquitos (4-3) – Tuesday, March 26, 2019

The 4th place vs 5th place game is always one of the most exciting matches of the playoff bracket. With a final score of 0-0, Headers & Shoulders 2 and Velvet Taquitos went to penalty Kicks!  Headers & Shoulders 2 won 5-4 in Penalty kicks.   The last time these two teams met in week 2, Velvet Taquitos won 5-0. The results were different this time around.  Headers & Shoulders 2 had two games this week. This was the better played match.  The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for Headers & Shoulders 2, Alistair Murray, who had a shutout.  Despite the loss, Velvet Taquitos has been doing great on offense for the season, with a total of 26 goals. The win for Headers & Shoulders 2 meant a straight shot to semi-finals. They played this game immediately following the quarter-final game. The recap below tells you all about it.  Velvet Taquitos is done with playoffs, which means it’s time for a team meeting at the bar to regroup for next season!

 

ESPN The Ocho (6-2) vs. Beercelona (3-4-1) – Tuesday, March 26, 2019

ESPN The Ocho were the higher ranked #3 seed playing the #6 seed, Beercelona. They just barely took the win to advance to Semi-Finals with a final score of 2-1.  Connor Welby scored the only goal for Beercelona to save them from a shutout.  Beercelona is done with playoffs, which means it’s time for a team meeting at the bar to regroup for next season!  This week, ESPN The Ocho came ready for a double header.  This was the better played match, which helped them claim their #3 rank in the standings table. Ryan Teich and Shane Decker were among those who scored in this playoff win for ESPN The Ocho, putting one shot each past the Beercelona goalkeeper, Ross Munro.  This win advanced ESPN The Ocho to semi-finals, which was played as a double header. Blue Guys (9-0) vs. Headers & Shoulders 2 (5-3-1) – Tuesday, March 26, 2019

Heading into this Semi-Final games, Headers & Shoulders 2 were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 6 goals last week.  Additionally, they were the higher ranked #1 seed playing the #4 seed, Headers & Shoulders 2. They just barely took the win to advance to the Championship Game with a final score of 3-2.  Patrick Weeks, Brian Yeung, and Meagan Reitz were among those who scored in this playoff win for Blue Guys, putting one shot each past the Headers & Shoulders 2 goalkeeper, Alistair Murray.  They dominated in the regular season, and it’s no surprise Blue Guys advanced to the Championship game.  Read the recap below to find out how they did.  Headers & Shoulders 2 had a double header. Sometimes double headers help you get in a groove, other times they lead to heavy legs, and they now sit in 4th place in the standings.  Andrew Merrill was the star player for Headers & Shoulders 2 this week scoring both goals for their team.  Headers & Shoulders 2’s loss means they are done in this single-elimination playoff schedule.

 

LPSE (7-1-1) vs. ESPN The Ocho (6-2) – Tuesday, March 26, 2019

It was an exciting Semi-Final games, in which the #2 seed, LPSE, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #3 seed, ESPN The Ocho.  ESPN The Ocho had a double header this week.  If they had only this game, it might have been a different result, but instead they ended up widening their goal differential gap to 14.  Ryan Teich scored the only goal for ESPN The Ocho to save them from a shutout.  LPSE had a double header. This was the better played match, which helped them lock in their #2 rank in the standings table.  Naode Gelan leads LPSE this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week bringing Naode Gelan’s personal total to 6 while Antonio DeSario added one goal as well.  Unfortunately for ESPN The Ocho, this loss means the end of their season.  The exciting win for LPSE advanced them to the championship game. Blue Guys (9-0) vs. LPSE (7-1-1) – Tuesday, March 26, 2019

It was a Championship Game written for the movies. The #1 team, Blue Guys played the #2 team, LPSE for the prestigious long-sleeve shirts forever capturing the moment of glory. This was one of two games for Blue Guys. Both matches were victories helping to boost them to the #1 rank in the standings. Patrick Weeks, Brian Yeung, Charles Ishola, and Rob were among those who scored in this playoff win for Blue Guys, putting one shot each past the LPSE goalkeeper, Diego.  Congratulations to Blue Guys on a great season and their championship win with a final score of 4-1!  We hope to see this squad return to defend their title.  This was one of two games for LPSE this week. This was the tougher match of the two, but at least the loss didn’t ding their standings too bad as they still sit at the top of the table in 2nd place. They still had notable players including Ariana Gonzalez, who tallied one goal for LPSE.  Being one of the top two teams, LPSE was optimistic heading into the championship match, so this loss is a tough one.  But they definitely have what it takes to win and we expect to see them doing well again next season.
