Winter 2019 Tuesday CIBC Fire Pitch Coed Soccer – Week 7

Kick in a Box (2-4-2) vs. Daddy FC (2-5) – Tuesday, March 19, 2019

It was an exciting Play-in games, in which the #8 seed Kick in a Box against the #9 seed, Daddy FC ended regulation in a 0-0 tie. The Game went to penalty kicks where #8 seed Kick in the Box squeaked by with a win 3-2.  Sany Nguyen, Fernando, and Vincent each scored once during the shoot out.  Daddy FC still had notable players including Sam Mulroe and Jenna Ronan, who each kicked one goal in the shootout for Daddy FC. Winning this play-in game means Kick in a Box advanced to Quarter-Finals.  Since the quarter-final was a double header for these guys, check out the game recap below to see how they did! This is the end of the road for Daddy FC’s run in this league. There’s always next season!

 

Blue Guys (7-0) vs. Kick in a Box (2-4-2) – Tuesday, March 19, 2019

In this Quarter-Final game, the #1 seed, Blue Guys, took on the #8 seed, Kick in a Box.  Blue Guys have a lot of scoring power.  They’re averaging 4 goals per game.  Brian Yeung, Kathryn Hermanas, and Meagan Reitz each scored one goal in this playoff win for Blue Guys.  Kick in a Box had two games this week. This was the tougher match of the two, and they now sit in 8th place in the standings.  Dan scored the only goal for Kick in a Box to prevent the shutout.  This week’s win advances Blue Guys to semi-finals.  Kick in a Box had a difficult run this season, and they will not be advancing to the next round of playoffs.

 

INDY Team #8 (3-4-1) vs. Look Ma No Hands FC (1-5-1) – Tuesday, March 19, 2019

It was an exciting Play-in games, in which the #7 seed, INDY Team #8, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #10 seed, Look Ma No Hands FC.  Look Ma No Hands FC were unable to get rolling on offense in this one, scoring less than their average of 1.3 GPG for the year.  Flippe scored the only goal for Look Ma No Hands FC to prevent the shutout.  INDY Team #8 had a double header.  Jennie Skinner and Lance Lochner each scored one goal in this playoff win for INDY Team #8, putting shots past the Look Ma No Hands FC goalkeeper, Jerry Ponce.  Unfortunately for Look Ma No Hands FC, this loss means the end of their season.  INDY Team #8 continue on their road to victory. LPSE (6-0-1) vs. INDY Team #8 (3-4-1) – Tuesday, March 19, 2019

In this Quarter-Final game, the #2 seed, LPSE, matched up against the #7 seed, INDY Team #8.  LPSE is on fire!  Diego is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for LPSE.  Helping on the offense, Naode Gelan, Kimberly Kegel, Antonio DeSario, Colin Gainer, and Jake Nardulli eachscored one goal in this playoff win for LPSE.  INDY Team #8 had two games this week.  In contrast to their other game, they couldn’t string together the plays they needed for a win, and they now sit in 7th place in the standings.  This week’s win advances LPSE to semi-finals.  On the bright side for INDY Team #8, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season.

 

Headers & Shoulders 2 (4-2-1) vs. Chicago Veterans (0-7) – Tuesday, March 19, 2019

Headers & Shoulders 2, the #5 seed, matched up against Chicago Veterans, in this Quarter-Final game with a final score of 6-0.  The last time these two teams met in week 6, Headers & Shoulders 2 won 4-2. This time around, the results weren’t much different.  Headers & Shoulders 2 seems to have found their groove and has won two games in a row.  Alistair Murray is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Headers & Shoulders 2.  Helping on the offense, Andrew Merrill was among those who scored in this playoff win for Headers & Shoulders 2 with two goals, while Katherine Lynch, Margaret Giles, Meaghan Polk, and Nick Watson each added one goal as well. The win for Headers & Shoulders 2 means a ticket to semi-finals. Chicago Veterans struggled to get it going on the offensive end in this game and couldn’t seem to find the back of the net.  Unfortunately for Chicago Veterans, this loss means the end of their season.

 

Beercelona (3-3-1) vs. Clark Construction (1-5-1) – Tuesday, March 19, 2019

Clark Construction, forfeited to the #6 seed, Beercelona in this Quarter-Final game.  Clark Construction had a rough run this season, and they will not be advancing to the next round of playoffs.  The win for Beercelona means a ticket to semi-finals.  Whichever team emerges as the winner will advance to the championship game.
