Winter 2019 Thursday CIBC Fire Pitch Soccer – Week 7

Loose Balls (3-3-2) vs. INDY Team #7 (1-6) – Thursday, March 21, 2019

Loose Balls were the higher ranked #7 seed playing the #9 seed, INDY Team #7.  They just barely took the win to advance to Quarter-Finals with a score of 3-2.  Loose Balls came ready for a double header this week. This was the better played match, which helped them lock in their #7 rank in the standings table.  Andrew Riddell was among those who scored in this playoff win for Loose Balls, putting one shot past the INDY Team #7 goalkeeper, Justin Hughes.  Winning this play-in game means Loose Balls advanced to Quarter-Finals. Since the quarter-final was a double header for these guys, check out the game recap below to see how they did! INDY Team #7 still had notable players including Sam Ostergaard, who accounted for one goal. INDY Team #7’s loss means they are done in this single-elimination playoff schedule.

 

INDY Team #8 (5-2) vs. Loose Balls (3-3-2) – Thursday, March 21, 2019

INDY Team #8 was the higher ranked #1 seed playing the #7 seed, Loose Balls.  They took the win to advance to Semi-Final with a score of 4-1.  This is the second week in a row INDY Team #8 took home the win.  Patrick Peltz was among those who scored in this playoff win for INDY Team #8, putting one shot past the Loose Balls goalkeeper, Daniel Nelson.  INDY Team #8 advance to semi-finals. They’re just two games away from the championship title.  This was one of two games for Loose Balls. This was the tougher match of the two, but instead they ended up widening their goal differential gap to 91.  Peter Chung scored the only goal for Loose Balls to save them from a shutout.  Loose Balls is done with playoffs, which means it’s time for a team meeting at the bar to regroup for next season!

 

Oprah’s Book Club (4-4) vs. S.T.V.G FC (0-7) – Thursday, March 21, 2019

The #10 seed, S.T.V.G FC, forfeited to the #7 seed, Oprah’s Book Club in this Play-In game. The forfeit puts S.T.V.G FC in 10th place in the standings table. Oprah’s Book Club came ready for a double header this week.  On the bright side for S.T.V.G FC, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season.  Oprah’s Book Club continue on their road to victory. Kelly Blue Book’s 2009 Minivan of the Year (5-2) vs. Oprah’s Book Club (4-4) – Thursday, March 21, 2019

No one expected this Quarter-Final games to be such a close one. Kelly Blue Book’s 2009 Minivan of the Year, the #1 seed just squeaked by in this 1-point game to beat the #7 seed, Oprah’s Book Club with a final score of 3-2.   Kelly Blue Book’s 2009 Minivan of the Year seems to have found their groove and has won two games in a row.  Phil Troscinski leads Kelly Blue Book’s 2009 Minivan of the Year this season in scoring and added 2 goals to their stats this week bringing Phil Troscinski’s personal total to 6.  This week’s win advances Kelly Blue Book’s 2009 Minivan of the Year to semi-finals. This was one of two games for Oprah’s Book Club.  The game could have gone either way, but instead they ended up widening their goal differential gap to 98.  They still had notable players including Rachel Olen, who scored one goal for Oprah’s Book Club.  Oprah’s Book Club had a run this season, but they will not be advancing to the next round of playoffs.

 

Gogo (4-3) vs. Cheeky Monkey (3-2-2) – Thursday, March 21, 2019

Gogo were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 6 goals last week.  Cheeky Monkey didn’t have their best stuff in this one and failed to make it onto the scoreboard with a final score of 1-0.  The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for Gogo, Camillo, who had a shutout, and Sergio who scored the only goal of the game.  This is the end of the road for Cheeky Monkey’s run in this league. There’s always next season!  Gogo advance to semi-finals. They’re just two games away from the championship title.

 

Thresholds Thunder (4-1-2) vs. Chicago Handshakes (3-2-2) – Thursday, March 21, 2019

It was an exciting Quarter-Final matches, in which the #1 seed, Thresholds Thunder, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #4 seed, Chicago Handshakes with a final score of 3-2.  This win is the second in a row for Thresholds Thunder, and it bumps them to 1st place in the standings.  Gabriel Santana Jr was among those who scored in this playoff win for Thresholds Thunder, putting two shots past the Chicago Handshakes goalkeeper, Shahab Rostami.  Despite the loss, Chicago Handshakes has been doing great on offense for the season, with a total of 21 goals. They still had notable players including William Meadows, who tallied one goal for Chicago Handshakes.  Thresholds Thunder advance to semi-finals. They’re just two games away from the championship title.  Chicago Handshakes had a run this season, but they will not be advancing to the next round of playoffs.
