Winter 2019 Thursday CIBC Fire Pitch Soccer – Week 6

Loose Balls (2-2-2) vs. S.T.V.G FC (0-6) – Thursday, March 14, 2019

The #10 seed, S.T.V.G FC, forfeited to the #6 seed, Loose Balls.  Loose Balls had two games this week. This was the better played match, which helped them lock in their #6 rank in the standings table . Loose Balls finished the regular season in 6th place, and they will play the winner of the They have a bye next week and will play the following week. This was S.T.V.G FC’s second forfeit of the season, likely disqualifying them from partaking in playoffs. It was a rough regular season for S.T.V.G FC, who finished as the 10th place seed.

 

Loose Balls (2-2-2) vs. Cheeky Monkey (3-1-2) – Thursday, March 14, 2019

Loose Balls took a last minute boost in the final standings of the regular season with a final score of 1-1. Perhaps on a night they only had one game, this tie could have been a victory. Daniel Nelson scored the team’s only goal, keeping their team in the game.  This is Cheeky Monkey’s second tie this season.  Jonny Bates was the star player for Cheeky Monkey this week scoring the only goal for them.

 

Gogo (3-3) vs. Oprah’s Book Club (3-3) – Thursday, March 14, 2019

With two games on their schedule this week, Gogo used this game against Oprah’s Book Club to give them an extra win before playoffs with a final score of 6-3.  Oprah’s Book Club really were unable to put up much of a defense in this one, allowing more goals than their average of 2.3 goals against per game this year. They still had notable players including Nick Tollefson, who scored two goals and Emily Studenmund added one for Oprah’s Book Club.   Vivon  kicked two goals and earned the most tallies on the scoresheet.  While Caroline, Rafael, Robert, and Ashley each scored one.

 

Chicago Handshakes (3-1-2) vs. Gogo (3-3) – Thursday, March 14, 2019

Chicago Handshakes and Gogo were extremely evenly matched in this game up to the last minute with a final score of 5-4.   Gogo still had notable players including Dan , who had two goals while Caroline and Robert each added one.  This week’s loss didn’t help their record for playoffs.  This is the second week in a row Chicago Handshakes took home the win.  Shahab Rostami tallied a hat trick to lead the club’s attack while Eric Sharder and Michael Koho each added one.

 

Thresholds Thunder (3-1-2) vs. INDY Team #8 (4-2) – Thursday, March 14, 2019

Thresholds Thunder beat INDY Team #8 5-2 in this week’s match.  INDY Team #8 really didn’t have their best stuff in this game, scoring fewer than their average of 3.2 goals per game this season.  Geoff Hardy was the star player for INDY Team #8 this week.  They scored all two goals for their team.  Thresholds Thunder continue to show they are a team that is good at scoring.  They’re averaging 4 goals per game. Ben Hushek scored a hat trick to spearhead the group’s attack while Chris and paul each added one.

 

Kelly Blue Book’s 2009 Minivan of the Year (4-2) vs. INDY Team #7 (1-5) – Thursday, March 14, 2019

Kelly Blue Book’s 2009 Minivan of the Year put on a show on both sides of the pitch against INDY Team #7 with a final score of 2-0.  Jose Vidal and Alexandra Vigilante each scored one goal Shout-out to goalkeeper, Troy Corcoran, for the shutout!  It was a rough regular season for INDY Team #7, who finished as the 9th place seed.
