Winter 2019 Saturday CIBC Fire Pitch Soccer – Week 7

CTAX F.C. (3-3-2) vs. Post-Indy (1-6) – Saturday, March 23, 2019

CTAX F.C.  were the higher ranked seed playing Post-Indy.  They just barely took the win to advance to Quarter-Finals with a final score of 3-2.  Post-Indy really gave everything they had to stop CTAX F.C.  in this one in spite of the loss, surrendering less than their average of 4.9 goals against per game this season.  They still had notable players including Mary Watson and Connor Cady, who each scored one goal for Post-Indy.  CTAX F.C. was fired up for a double header.  Impressively, they won both matches putting them at a 3-game winning streak.  David Gimpel leads CTAX F.C. this season in scoring and added 2 goals to their stats this week bringing David Gimpel’s personal total to 4.  While John Peloquin scored one goal.  On the bright side for Post-Indy, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season.  CTAX F.C. continue on their road to victory. CTAX F.C. (3-3-2) vs. Team America (6-1) – Saturday, March 23, 2019

Heading into this Quarter-Final games, Team America were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 8 goals last week. They were the #2 seed facing the #4 seed, CTAX F.C.. With their higher rank and momentum from last week, Team America went into this game thinking they would be going on to Semi-Finals.  With a final score of 2-1, CTAX F.C. grabbed this W.  CTAX F.C. had two games this week. They won both matches putting them at a 3-game winning streak.  David Gimpel leads CTAX F.C. this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week and Hugo Gasca added a goal as well this year.  This is Team America’s first loss of the season.  Adam scored the only goal for Team America to save them from a shutout.  Team America is done with playoffs, which means it’s time for a team meeting at the bar to regroup for next season!

 

Jimmy Savile’s U10s (6-0-1) vs. Excelarators (1-4-2) – Saturday, March 23, 2019

In this Quarter-Final game, the #1 seed, Jimmy Savile’s U10s, took on the #7 seed, Excelarators. Excelarators didn’t have their best stuff on the offensive end in this one, and suffered a shutout with a score of 7-0.  Jimmy Savile’s U10s are playing a fantastic offensive season. They’re averaging 5 goals per game.  Chris S is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Jimmy Savile’s U10s. Helping on the offense, Chris Cogbill, Chris S, Kelsey Burris, and Declan Rice were among those who scored in this playoff win for Jimmy Savile’s U10s.  Excelarators are done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.  This week’s win advances Jimmy Savile’s U10s to semi-finals.

 

Chicago Cougars (3-1-3) vs. Turtle Shells (1-4-2) – Saturday, March 23, 2019

In this Quarter-Final game, Chicago Cougars took on Turtle Shells. The last time these two teams met in week 4, Chicago Cougars won 4-1. The results weren’t much different this time around.  Turtle Shells really were unable to get rolling in this game, scoring less than their average of 1.9 GPG for the season. Andy Schmits scored the only goal for Turtle Shells to get their team on the board.  Huralt leads Chicago Cougars this season in scoring and added 3 goals to their stats this week bringing Huralt ‘s personal total to 7.  While David Baz Cortes added two goals and Canary added one.  Turtle Shells’s loss means they are done in this single-elimination playoff schedule.  The win for Chicago Cougars means a ticket to semi-finals.
