Winter 2019 Monday CIBC Fire Pitch Coed Soccer – Week 7

Game of Throw-In’s (Harry) (7-0) vs. GT Soccer (0-5-2) – Monday, March 18, 2019

Game of Throw-In’s (Harry), the #1 seed, played the #8 seed, GT Soccer in this Quarter-Final game. The last time these two teams met in week 2, Game of Throw-In’s (Harry) won 7-3.  This time around, the results weren’t much different.  GT Soccer didn’t have their best showing in terms of defense in this game, surrendering more goals than their average of 4.7 goals against per game this season. The losing team still had notable players including Sam J and Sheen, who each scored one goal for GT Soccer.  Gt Soccer is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.  Game of Throw-In’s (Harry) are playing a fantastic offensive season. They’re averaging 5 goals per game.  Game of Throw-In’s (Harry) advance to semi-finals. They’re just two games away from the championship title.

 

Game of Throw-Ins (Young) (2-4-1) vs. MVW FC (4-3) – Monday, March 18, 2019

Heading into this Quarter-Final games, MVW FC were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 9 goals last week. They were the #3 seed facing the #5 seed, Game of Throw-Ins (Young). With their higher rank and momentum from last week, MVW FC went into this game thinking they would be going on to Semi-Finals. With a final score of 5-4, Game of Throw-Ins (Young) grabbed this W. In spite of the loss, MVW FC has been doing great on offense, with a total of 28 goals. They still had notable players including Rebecca W, who had two goals for MVW FC while Patrick Morey and Robert Hicks each scored one.  MVW FC’s loss means they are done in this single-elimination playoff schedule.  Game of Throw-Ins (Young) seems to have found their groove and has won two games in a row.  Kyle leads Game of Throw-Ins (Young) this season in scoring and added 2 goals to their stats this week bringing Kyle ‘s personal total to 4 while Peter Fiflis, Taylor Haack, and Richie Alday each scored one goal.  The win for Game of Throw-Ins (Young) means a ticket to semi-finals.

 

Avocado Discoballs (5-2) vs. Team Awesome (1-4-2) – Monday, March 18, 2019

Heading into this Quarter-Final games, Team Awesome were coming off their top offensive game of the season, scoring 2 goals last week.  Additionally, they were the higher ranked #2 seed playing the #7 seed, Team Awesome. They played well and took the win to advance to Semi-Finals.  The two MVPs in this match were the goalkeeper for Avocado Discoballs, Chris Mueller, who had a shutout, and Ben Ritter who scored all the goals in the game.  Team Awesome didn’t have their best stuff on offense in this one and failed to make it onto the scoreboard.  Avocado Discoballs advance to semi-finals. They’re just two games away from the championship title. Team Awesome is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

 

Spoons Deux (4-3) vs. The Gunners (2-4-1) – Monday, March 18, 2019

It was an exciting Quarter-Final match-ups, in which the #3 seed, Spoons Deux, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #5 seed, The Gunners.  Jess Foxen did all the scoring for Spoons Deux in this game, including the game-winning goal.  This week’s win advances Spoons Deux to semi-finals.  The Gunners really were unable to get rolling in terms of scoring in this one, scoring fewer than their average of 1.4 GPG for the year.  Valerie scored the only goal for The Gunners to prevent the shutout.  The Gunners are done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.
