INDY Team #3 (4-1-1) vs. INDY Team #6 (0-6-0) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020

INDY Team #3 closed out their regular season schedule in style on Wednesday night as they cruised past INDY Team #6 by a final score of 6-3. INDY Team #3 are playing an amazing offensive season. They are averaging over 4 goals per game this season. Four different players added their names to the goal scoring sheet, including Arjun Patel who tallied a hat trick to help earn the club the win. This impressive week 6 victory secures the overall #2 seed for INDY Team #3 heading into the postseason coming up on Wednesday night. #2 INDY Team #3 will take on the winner of the #3 Formerly In Shape FC (4-3-0) vs. #6 INDY Team #6 (0-6-0) game in the semifinals. INDY Team #6 had two games this week. Disappointingly, they could not pull out a win in this first match. The losing team still had notable players including Joseph Szmadzinski, who knocked in two of the three goals for INDY Team #6 in this contest. INDY Team #6 needed to shake off this loss quickly as they had to step right back onto the field and take on Formerly In Shape FC. See below for this games recap.

 

Formerly In Shape FC (4-3-0) vs. INDY Team #6 (0-6-0) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020

INDY Team #6 couldn’t pull together enough players to play a legal game and had to forfeit to Formerly In Shape FC. The second consecutive loss on Wednesday night now gives INDY Team #6 a 6-game losing streak heading into the postseason. They are locked in as the overall #6 seed and will begin their postseason journey coming up on Wednesday night against #3 Formerly In Shape FC (4-3-0) in the quarterfinals. The winner of this game will stay on the field and take on #2 INDY Team #3 (4-1-1) in the semifinals. Formerly In Shape FC shook off their week 5 loss by recording a forfeit victory over INDY Team #6 in the front end of their double header on Wednesday night. Formerly In Shape FC (4-3-0) vs. Goode FC (2-3-1) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020

Formerly In Shape FC were looking to avenge their 2-1 gut wrenching loss to Good FC from their previous matchup back in Week 2, and they did just that on Wednesday night. By the final score of 5-2, Formerly In Shape FC won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Nick Tatro scored two goals to guide the club’s offense. Meghan Day, Sergio Miranda and Andrew Hong all added their names to the scorer’s sheet as well in this contest for Formerly In Shape FC. The back-to-back wins locks Formerly In Shape FC into the overall #3 seed heading into the postseason and will see them take on #6 INDY Team #6 (0-6-0) in the quarterfinals coming up on Wednesday night. Winner of this game will stay on the field and take on #2 INDY Team #3 (4-1-1) in the semifinals. The losing team still had notable players including Sam Bivona, who kicked one goal for Goode FC. Sam Bivona and Ivan Soria each knocked in a goal apiece to help keep Goode FC in this game, but it just wasn’t enough to keep up with a determined Formerly In Shape FC crew. The loss drops Goode FC into the #5 seed heading into the postseason coming up on Wednesday night and will see them pair up with #4 Uber Freight #1 (2-3-1) in the quarterfinals. Winner of this game will stay on the field and take on #1 Plant Based Plants (5-0-1) in the semifinals.

 

Plant Based Plants (5-0-1) vs. Uber Freight #1 (2-3-1) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020

On a late August evening that boasted record-high temperatures, a couple of records were broken on UIC TURF soccer pitch as well. Plant Based Plants defeated Uber Freight #1 6-2, making the team’s fifth consecutive victory to end the regular season the longest current winning streak in the league. Molly Stark’s second strike of the game was her 8th overall during the regular season, making her the leagues regular season leading goal scorer! This week 6 convincing victory solidifies Plant Based Plants as the overall #1 seed heading into the postseason on Wednesday night and will see them take on the winner of the #4 Uber Freight #1 (2-3-1) vs. #5 Good FC (2-3-1) game in the semifinals. Winner of this game will advance to the Championship game on Wednesday, September 9th. Uber Freight #1 did not have their best stuff in this one, scoring fewer than their average of 2.8 GPG for the year. The losing team still had notable players including Zayde Contreras, who scored one goal for Uber Freight #1. The loss drops Uber Freight #1 into the #4 seed heading into the postseason coming up on Wednesday night and will see them take on #5 Goode FC (2-3-1) in the quarterfinals round. Winner of this game will stay on the field and take on #1 Plant Based Plants (5-0-1) in the semifinals.
