Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Men’s 7v7 Flag Football League Recap – Playoffs Week 1

Grand Theft Auto (3-5) v. River Shannons (2-5) – Wednesday, October 28, and 2020

Exacting some revenge from their Week 5 regular season loss, #5 seed Grand Theft Auto won the rematch with #4 seed River Shannons in a dominating 32-0 performance in the Quarterfinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Men’s INT 7v7 Flag Football League. Grand Theft Auto really stepped up on D in this one, beating their season points against average of 11.9 ppg as they pitched their first shutout of the season. On the offensive end of the field, QB Carlos Curry threw four TDs, finding Romello Clark for two of them. The win would see Grand Theft Auto stay on the field and take on #1 seed legion of boom (6-1) in the Semifinals with a spot in the Championship game on the line. More on this game below. River Shannons did not have their best stuff in this game, scoring less than their average of 9.30 points per game for the season. It was only the second this season that River Shannons failed to make it onto the scoreboard. While this is certainly not the way River Shannons saw their season ending, these guys competed hard each and every week. We hope to see them back on the field next season competing for another league title!

#1 seed legion of boom had to dig deep to escape with a narrow 25-20 victory over #5 seed Grand Theft Auto in the Semifinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Men’s INT 7v7 Flag Football League. legion of boom made some plays offensively when they needed too and exceeded their average of 21.90 points per game to secure this do-or-die victory. The leagues leader in Passing TDs, Rushing TDs and Total TDs, QB Shafiq Said delivered four more passing TDs, connecting with four different receivers along the way. With this Semifinals victory, legion of boom advance into the Championship game coming up on Wednesday night where they will take on #2 seed Money Team (6-1) for the league title! For #5 seed Grand Theft Auto, in the loss, QB Carlos Curry passed for three more scores to bring his final season Passing TD total up to 9. Grand Theft Auto did everything they could to stay in this game, but they came up just short of recoding one of the biggest upsets this season. We hope to see this squad back on the field next season competing for another league title!

 

Money Team (6-1) v. Chicago Steelers (4-3) – Wednesday, October 28, and 2020

By the final score of 21-7, #2 seed Money Team advance into the Championship game as they held off #3 seed Chicago Steelers in the Semifinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Men’s INT 7v7 Flag Football League. The final score of 21-7 reflects the hard work Money Team put into every minute of the game to gain this must-win victory. QB Jeff Zabrin delivered three touchdowns for Money Team in this contest, connecting with Tony Coglianese for all three of them. The win sees #2 seed Money Team advance into the Championship game coming up on Wednesday night where they will take the field against #1 seed legion of boom (6-1) to crown our league champion! In the loss for Chicago Steelers, QB Zach Broujos connected with vin for their only score in this game. The loss sees Chicago Steelers end their season with an overall 4-3 record.
