Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC Flag Football – Playoffs Week 1 Recap

Don’t Touchdown There (2-5) v. INDY Team #4 (2-4) – Wednesday, August 26, and 2020

There were just two plays a matter of minutes apart that broke this game open and helped #5 Don’t Touchdown There upset #4 INDY Team #4 in the quarterfinals of the Wednesday night Lincoln Park TURF Coed 8v8 Flag Football league playoffs. Don’t Touchdown There really brought their A-game in this one, exceeding their average of 16.80 points per game. QB Ryan Murphy passed for two scores, tossing to Patrick Stoeffel for one of them while also rushing in one of his own. This huge win would see Don’t Touchdown There move along into the semifinals and take on #1 Patomic Bomb (6-1). See below for this game’s recap. For INDY Team #4, in the loss, QB Shawn hit Nora Buganski and John Koehn for their only scores in this game. It was a nice overall season for INDY Team #4 but it certainly ended a little sooner than they had hoped. We look forward to seeing them out on the field during the upcoming Fall season!

Patomic Bomb (6-1) v. Don’t Touchdown There (2-5) – Wednesday, August 26, and 2020

Just like earlier in the season, Patomic Bomb won the rematch between these two squads. This time Patomic Bomb put 41 on the board and held Don’t Touchdown There to 7 points.  Patomic Bomb are the highest-scoring team in the league this season, averaging 33.3 points per game. QB Clayton Sanger threw four touchdowns, passing to Rod Hunter for two of them and rushed for one with his legs. This huge victory now sees Patomic Bomb advance to the Championship game coming up on Wednesday night. They will take on the winner of the #2 3rd and Shlong vs. #3 Sudden Impact game for the league title. Don’t Touchdown There really were unable to get rolling in this game, scoring less than their average of 16.80 points per game for the year. It was a disappointing outcome following a very impressive quarterfinals victory. For Don’t Touchdown There, QB Ryan Murphy hit Will Cooper for their only score in this game. It was a great effort by Don’t Touchdown There, but it just wasn’t enough to get past the hottest team in the league. We look forward to seeing this crew back on the field during the upcoming Fall season!

3rd and Shlong (5-1) v. Show us your TD’s (1-6) – Wednesday, August 26, and 2020

For the second week in a row, this time in the quarterfinals of the playoffs, 3rd and Shlong pushed down hard on the gas pedal and recorded a huge victory over #7 Show us your TD’s. With a final score of 41-27, 3rd and Shlong now have their eyes on the prize.  3rd and Shlong really brought their A game in this one, topping their average of 29 points per game. QB Anthony S threw five scores, hitting Sean Coyne for two of them. The win advances 3rd and Shlong into the semifinals coming up on Wednesday night. They will take on #3 Sudden Impact (5-1) with an opportunity to advance into the Championship game. Even though they lost, Show us your TD’s played their A game, exceeding their average of 17.90 points per game this year. In the loss for Show us your TD’s, QB Tristen Tanner hit Brandon Molina for three touchdowns. Brandon Molina now leads the league in Receiving TDs. It was a solid overall season for Show us your TD’s as they competed every single week. Unfortunately, they just could not overcome one of the best teams in the league. We look to seeing this team compete once again in the upcoming Fall season!

Sudden Impact (5-1) v. Chi Town BlitZ (2-5) – Wednesday, August 26, and 2020

Back in week 4 during the regular season, #3 Sudden Impact squeezed by #6 Chi Town BlitZ by a final score of 22-19. Their rematch in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night had the same feel and fortunately for Sudden Impact, the same result. The final score of 20-19 reflects the hard work Sudden Impact put into every minute of this game to be able to keep their championship dreams alive.  Sudden Impact really buckled down in this game, emerging victorious, despite scoring less than their avg. ppg of 31.3. QB Billy Survillion delivered three touchdowns, hitting Abdullah Asad for two of them. This huge victory will now see Sudden Impact take on #2 3rd and Shlong (5-1) in the semifinals coming up on Wednesday night. Winner of this game will stay on the field to take on #1 Patomic Bomb (6-1) in the Championship game. Chi Town BlitZ really did not have their best stuff on the offensive end in this one, scoring less than their average of 21.60 points per game for the year. During the loss, QB Reese Gaines hit Whitney Mckee for one touchdown. Chi-Town BlitZ is a nightmare match-up for almost every team in the league, unfortunately they came up just shy of keeping their season alive for another week. We hope to see them on the field in the upcoming Fall season!
