Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC Flag Football – Championship Week Recap

3rd and Shlong (7-2) v. Sudden Impact (6-2) – Wednesday, September 2, and 2020

#2 seed 3rd and Shlong was pleased with making it into the Championship game, but acknowledged they were not very happy after their team had to squeak by. QB Anthony S threw five TDs and ran for one more score, and #2 seed 3rd and Shlong held off #3 seed Sudden Impact 40-32 on Wednesday night en route to another Championship game. It was the second meeting between these two teams this season. 3rd and Shlong won the previous matchup as well back in Week 4. The victory advanced 3rd and Shlong into the Championship game and would see them take on #1 Patomic Bomb for the league title. More on this game below. #3 seed Sudden Impact were unable to stop much in terms of defense in this one, allowing more points than their average of 19.30 points against per game for the season. In the tough loss, QB Billy Survillion hit Abdullah Asad for three touchdowns and Megan Majors for two. Unfortunately for Sudden Impact, they came up just shy in making it into the title game. It was a great run for a great team and we hope to see them back on the TURF in the upcoming Fall season!

Patomic Bomb (8-1) v. 3rd and Shlong (7-2) – Wednesday, September 2, and 2020

QB Clayton Sanger passed for a season high six TDs to five different receivers, the teams leader in receiving TDs, Rod Hunter was on the receiving end of two of them, and #1 seed Patomic Bomb grinded out a 44-26 win over #2 seed 3rd and Shlong in the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC Flag Football Championship game. Patomic Bomb made a few chunk plays rushing, but it was the aerial attack that made the difference in this title game. #2 seed 3rd and Shlong really struggled defensively in this contest, allowing more than their average of 27.00 PAPG for the season. In fact, it was the most points that they have allowed in a game all season. For 3rd and Shlong, QB Anthony S tossed for three TD scores and ran in one with his legs. Unfortunately, it just was not enough to keep up with the determined Patomic Bomb crew. It was a great season for both squads, and we hope to see them both back on the TURF in the upcoming Fall season!
