Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Soccer – Week 6 Recap

Let’s Get Messi (4-2) vs. Tenderloins (1-3-2) – Wednesday, August 19, 2020

One week after scoring a season high 6 goals, Let’s Get Messi stayed on fire on Wednesday night by putting together a dominating 5-1 victory over Tenderloins. Five different players made it onto the stat sheet, including Steven Tsonis who knocked in his third goal of the year. The win locks Let’s Get Messi into the #3 seed heading into our postseason tournament coming up on Wednesday night and they will take on the winner of the #6 Shooting for Shotz (3-2-1) vs. #11 TQL Chicago SC game in the quarterfinals. Tenderloins really did not have their best stuff on offense in this game, scoring fewer than their average of 1.2 goals per game this season. Ryan scored the only goal for Tenderloins to get their team on the board. The loss solidifies Tenderloins as the #9 seed heading into our postseason tournament coming up on Wednesday night and they get a date with #8 INDY Team #3 (2-2-2) in Round 1 of play. Winner of this game stays on the field to face #1 Beast Incarnates (5-1) in the quarterfinal round.

 

Shooting for Shotz (3-2-1) vs. Kick in a Box (0-4-2) – Wednesday, August 19, 2020

Shooting for Shotz and Kick in a Box could not settle anything after 40 minutes, playing to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night. There were several missed opportunities for both squads during this game, but neither could find the back of the net. Kick in a Box do not have a reputation of scoring a lot of goals this season, so this result was not much of a surprise. They currently have a total of 2 goals over 6 games.  Coming up on Wednesday night in Round 1 of play of our postseason, Kick in a Box will face off with #5 Shenanigans (2-1-3). Winner of this game will stay on the field and take on #4 Team Boohoo (3-1-2) in the quarterfinals. The hard-earned point for Shooting for Shotz locks them into the #6 seed heading into our postseason tournament coming up on Wednesday night and they will take on #11 TQL Chicago SC (0-5-1). Grass Kickers (4-1-1) vs. Monty’s Maniacs (0-3-3) – Wednesday, August 19, 2020

Grass Kickers absolutely dominated this game, cruising past Monty’s Maniacs by a final score of 6-1. Grass Kickers really brought their A game in this one, besting their average of 2.8 goals per game.  The squads leading scorer Robert Thomashow fired in two more goals to help lead the squad to this very important Week 6 victory. The win solidifies Grass Kickers as the #2 seed heading into postseason action coming up on Wednesday night and they will take on the winner of the #7 Outrageous Fun (2-1-3) vs. #10 Monty’s Maniacs (0-3-3) game in the quarterfinals. It is week 6 and Monty’s Maniacs have only scored a total of 5 goals all season. Carlos Guzman scored the only goal for Monty’s Maniacs to save them from a shutout. They will need more goals from Guzman if they plan on advancing through the postseason tournament. The loss drops Monty’s Maniacs into the #10 seed, and they will take on #7 Outrageous Fun (2-1-3) in Round 1 of play coming up on Wednesday night.  Winner of this match stays on the field to take on #2 Grass Kickers (4-1-1) in the quarterfinals.

 

Beast Incarnates (5-1) vs. INDY Team #3 (2-2-2) – Wednesday, August 19, 2020

Earning their fifth win of the season, Beast Incarnates beat INDY Team #3 by a final score of 3-1. They have now scored at least 3 goals in every game they have played this season. Aaron Quinley added to their team-leading total, knocking in 2 goals to help lead the squad to victory and locking in the #1 overall seed heading into postseason play. They will take on the winner of the #8 INDY Team #3 (2-2-2) vs. #9 Tenderloins (1-3-2) game in the quarterfinals coming up on Wednesday night. INDY Team #3 have been averaging just around 1 goal per game so far this season, and the same held true on Wednesday night with a disappointing 3-1 loss to Beast Incarnates. Ryan Bruno knocked in his 4th goal of the season to help his squad from getting shutout. The loss drops INDY Team #3 into the #8 seed heading into postseason play as they now get a date with #9 Tenderloins (1-3-2) in Round 1 of play coming up on Wednesday night. Winner of this game stays on the field to take on #1 Beast Incarnates (5-1) in the quarterfinals.

 

Outrageous Fun (2-1-3) vs. Team Boohoo (3-1-2) – Wednesday, August 19, 2020

Outrageous Fun and Team Boohoo played to a draw and ended tied up at 0-0. Although scoreless this week, Team Boohoo have 12 goals on their record for the season. They have met even competition the past two weeks and Outrageous Fun now have a streak of 2 draws. The hard-earned point moves Outrageous Fun into the #7 seed heading into postseason play coming up on Wednesday night. They will take on #10 Monty’s Maniacs (0-3-3) in Round 1 of play. Winner of this match stays on the field to take on #2 Grass Kickers (4-1-1) in the quarterfinals. Michael Garai leads the league in scoring with 9 total goals For Team Boohoo but he and the rest of his crew were held to a tough nill-nill draw on Wednesday night. The draw leaves Team Boohoo as the #4 seeded team heading into our postseason tournament coming up on Wednesday night. They will take on the winner of the #5 Shenanigans (2-1-3) vs. #12 Kick in a Box (0-4-2) game in the quarterfinals.

 

Shenanigans (2-1-3) vs. TQL Chicago SC (0-5-1) – Wednesday, August 19, 2020

Shenanigans played well here and blanked TQL Chicago SC with a final score of 3-0. TQL Chicago SC did not have their best stuff in this game and could not seem to find the back of the net. Shenanigans seems to have found their groove and has won two games in a row. Spencer N netted two goals and Payton DeLong added the third. The club’s goalie, F Lopez, played very well in the clean sheet. The well-deserved 3 points locks Shenanigans in as the #5 seed and will see them take the field against #12 Kick in a Box (0-4-2) in Round 1 of postseason play coming up on Wednesday night. Winner of this game stays on the field to take on #4 Team Boohoo in the quarterfinals. Next week, #11 TQL Chicago SC takes on #6 Shooting for Shotz (3-2-1) in Round 1 of postseason play.
