Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Soccer – Week 3 Recap

Team Titans (1-1-1) vs. Chicago Lightfooters FC (2-1) – Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Determined to shake off their lopsided week 2 loss, Team Titans made sure this time to finish their chances, coming away with their first win of the season, beating Chicago Lightfooters by a final score of 3-0. Team Titans dominated the full 40 minutes, surpassing their average of 1.3 goals per game. Three different players added their names to the scorer’s sheet for Team Titans, including Nick Stuedemann who kicked in his first goal of the season. Shout-out to goalie, Andrew Greiner, for the shutout! Soccer? I hardly even know her. (1-2-0) are next up on the docket for Team Titans, as they look to record back-to-back victories for the first time this season. Chicago Lightfooters suffered their first defeat of the season in week 2 as they came into this matchup undefeated. Rooney Toons (0-3-0) is next up on the docket for Chicago Lightfooters FC coming up in week 4, as they attempt to shake off this lopsided loss and get back into the win column.

 

Trailblazers (3-0) vs. Grass Kickers (2-1) – Wednesday, September 23, 2020

It was a thrilling night for Trailblazers as they picked up a massive 2-1 win over Grass Kickers in week 3 of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Soccer League. Trailblazers continued their winning streak this week and are officially on fire. They are now only one of two teams left undefeated in the entire league. Adam Altman and Preston scored the two goals to spearhead the club’s offense. Next week, Trailblazers will try to stay unbeaten with another huge showdown versus FIS FC (2-1-0). This is Grass Kickers’s first loss of the season. Sam Farrell scored the only goal for Grass Kickers to save them from a shutout. Loins (1-2-0) is next up on the schedule for Grass Kickers coming up in week 4, as they look to rebound from this heartbreaking defeat.

 

Peanut Gallery (3-0) vs. TQL (1-2) – Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Five goals were scored by the leagues leading goal scorer, David Sippel in a resounding 7-1 victory for Peanut Gallery over TQL in week 3 of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Soccer League. The five goals brought David Sippel’s goal scoring total up to a whopping 13 goals through the first three games of the season. Currently undefeated, Peanut Gallery sit tied for 1st place in the standings with 3 wins through the first three weeks. Coming up in week 4, Peanut Gallery faces off in a huge battle against Let’s Get Messi (2-0-0) as both teams attempt to stay unbeaten. TQL really were unable to get rolling on offense in this one, scoring fewer than their average of 1.7 GPG this season. Alex Rohder scored the only goal for TQL to prevent the shutout. Them (0-2-1) are next up on the docket for TQL, as they attempt to bounce back from this blowout defeat.

 

Loins (1-2) vs. Rooney Toons (0-3) – Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Rooney Toons could not field enough starters to play a legal game and handed a free win to Loins in this match-up in week 3. The forfeit loss puts Rooney Toons tied for last place in the standings table. Rooney Toons attempts to get on the board with a win coming up in week 4 versus Chicago Lightfooters FC (2-1-0). The forfeit victory gives Loins their first points on the season. They will look to make it two wins in a row coming up in week 4 with a match-up against Grass Kickers (2-1-0).

 

Kick in a Box (2-1) vs. Plant Based Plants (2-1) – Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Plant Based Plants could not pull together enough players for this week 3 game and had to forfeit to Kick in a Box.  INDY Team #5 (0-3-0) are next up on the docket for Kick in a Box, as they look to record their third victory on the season. This forfeit was Plant Based Plants’s first loss of the season. Next up for Plant Based Plants is a showdown against Torts Illustrated (1-2-0), as they look to rebound from this forfeit defeat.

 

FIS FC (2-1) vs. Soccer? I hardly even know her. (1-2) – Wednesday, September 23, 2020

FIS FC got an easy win this week since Soccer? I hardly even know her. forfeited this match. The forfeit puts Soccer? I hardly even know her. in ninth place in the standings table.  Next up for Soccer? I hardly even know her. is a match-up against Team Titans (1-1-1), as they try to bounce back from this forfeit defeat. This win is the second in a row for FIS FC, and it bumps them to 3rd place in the standings. Next up for FIS FC is a throwdown against Trailblazers (3-0-0) as they go for three wins in a row.

 

Torts Illustrated (1-2) vs. INDY Team #5 (0-3) – Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Both off to a slow starts this season, neither team had a tally in the win column heading into this week 3 matchup. Finally breaking their losing streak, Torts Illustrated grabbed a nail-biter victory against INDY Team #5 with a final score of 1-0. INDY Team #5 did not have their best stuff in this game and suffered a shutout. Torts Illustrated really stepped up, beating their average of 0.7 goals per game. Michaela Reinagel prevented the team’s loss by scoring their only goal. Their goalkeeper, Adam Lefkowitz played a fantastic game in net, and got a shutout in this one. On Wednesday, INDY Team #5 will attempt to break their winless streak against Kick in a Box (2-1-0). Next up for Torts Illustrated is a match-up versus Plant Based Plants (2-1-0) as they go for two wins in a row.

 

Let’s Get Messi (2-0) vs. Them (0-2-1) – Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Let’s Get Messi shut out Them with a final score of just 1-0. Them were unable to get rolling in this game and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. Let’s Get Messi are heating up now with two wins in a row. To help earn the crew the W, Cara Cecil prevented the loss by scoring their only goal. Shout-out to goalkeeper, Seth Thoth, for the shutout! Them attempts to break their winless streak next week with a match-up against TQL (1-2-0). Coming up in week 4, Let’s Get Messi face off against Peanut Gallery (3-0-0) in an attempt to stay unbeaten in a crucial week 4 matchup.
