Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Soccer – Playoffs Week 1 Recap
INDY Team #3 (2-2-2) vs. Tenderloins (1-3-2) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020
Goalkeeper Patrick Roder stopped every shot that came his way. Elliott Renft and Ambrose Haas scored a goal apiece as ninth-seeded Tenderloins downed #8 seed INDY Team #3, 2-0, in hot conditions on Wednesday night in Round 1 of the Spring 2020 Wednesday Lincoln Park Coed REC 8v8 Soccer Playoffs. The victory advanced Tenderloins into the quarterfinals and would see them take on #1 Beast Incarnates. See below for that games recap. INDY Team #3 struggled all game long to get anything past the Tenderloins keeper. They had their opportunities, but the ball just would not find the back of the net. It was a disappointing end to what was a very solid season for INDY Team #3. We hope to see this squad back on the field in the Fall!
Beast Incarnates (5-0-1) vs. Tenderloins (1-3-2) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020
Beast Incarnates came into the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Playoffs as the overall #1 seed and were hoping to advance into the semifinals with a win against Tenderloins in the quarterfinals. Unfortunately for #1 Beast Incarnates, their season ended abruptly as they went down to #9 seeded Tenderloins by a final score of 2-0 in a thrilling quarterfinal matchup. Elliott Renft and Clark Doerr were the heroes for Tenderloins in this matchup as they each knocked in a goal apiece to complete the shocking double header sweep on Wednesday night. Goalkeeper Patrick Roder was impenetrable once again in this contest and recorded his second straight shutout of the night to help his squad advance into the semifinals coming up on Wednesday night. #9 Tenderloins will now match up with the winner of the #4 Team Boohoo (3-1-2) vs #5 Shenanigans (3-1-2) game in the semifinals coming up on Wednesday night. It was a shocking end to an absolute dream regular season for #1 Beast Incarnates. We hope to see this squad back on the field in the Fall!
Outrageous Fun (2-1-3) vs. Monty’s Maniacs (0-3-3) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020
#10 Monty’s Maniacs could not field enough starters to play a legal game on Wednesday night in Round 1 of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed Rec 8v8 Soccer Playoffs and had to take a forfeit loss to #7 Outrageous Fun. It is certainly not the ending Monty’s Maniacs were looking for heading into the season but all in all, it was a very solid season for this squad. We look forward to seeing them back on the field in the Fall! The win for Outrageous Fun advanced them into the quarterfinals and they would need to take on #2 Grass Kickers in the quarterfinals. Grass Kickers (4-1-1) vs. Outrageous Fun (2-1-3) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020
It took 8 rounds of PKs to decide a winner in this contest but in the end, it was Grass Kickers who would move on and advance into the semifinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed Rec 8v8 Soccer league. Dylan Hobert tallied the only goal during regulation time for Outrageous Fun, his 5th overall on the season. It was a gut-wrenching loss for Outrageous Fun, who were looking to become the second team on Wednesday evening to knock off a Top-2 seeded squad. Unfortunately, it just did not pan out. It was a fantastic overall season for Outrageous Fun, and we hope to see them on the field during the upcoming Fall season. Kristopher Tremblay knocked in the only goal for Grass Kickers during regulation time and goalkeeper Bobby Glasgow made some great saves during the eight-round penalty shoot out to help their squad escape with the narrow 2-1 victory. This nail-biting quarterfinal victory now sees Grass Kickers advance into the semifinals coming up on Wednesday night and they will take on the winner of the #3 Let’s Get Messi (4-2-0) vs. #6 Shooting for Shotz (3-2-1) game.
Shenanigans (3-1-2) vs. Kick in a Box (0-5-1) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020
#12 Kick in a Box could not field enough starters to play a legal game on Wednesday night in Round 1 of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed Rec 8v8 Soccer Playoffs and had to take a forfeit loss to #5 Shenanigans. It is certainly not the ending Kick in a Box were looking for heading into the season. We look forward to seeing them back on the field in the Fall! The win for Shenanigans advanced them into the quarterfinals and they now will take on #4 Team Boohoo (3-1-2) in the quarterfinals coming up on Wednesday night. Winner of this game move along into the semifinals and take on #9 Tenderloins (1-3-2).
Shooting for Shotz (3-2-1) vs. TQL Chicago SC (0-5-1) – Wednesday, August 26, 2020
Seven goals were scored over the span of 40 minutes on Wednesday evening at the Lincoln Park TURF Field as #6 Shooting for Shotz topped #11 TQL Chicago SC in a thrilling 4-3 final. Alex Rohder knocked in all three goals for TQL Chicago SC, bringing his season goal scoring tally up to 5. Unfortunately for Alex Rohder and the rest of the TQL Chicago SC crew, it just was not enough to get past a determined Shooting for Shotz squad. TQL Chicago SC battled in every game this season, they just could not seem to get on the right side of the final results. We look forward to seeing them on the field during the Fall season! Shooting for Shotz were led by Edward Maynard in this contest as he knocked in two of his squads four goals to help his team squeeze through to the quarterfinals. Sarah Mills and Ben Krochmal supplied the others as Shooting for Shotz will now take on #3 Let’s Get Messi in the quarterfinals coming up on Wednesday night. Winner of this game will move along into the semifinals and take on #2 Grass Kickers (4-1-1).
