Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Flag Football League Recap! – Playoffs Week 1

Don’t Touchdown There (2-6) v. INDY Team #10 (1-6) – Wednesday, October 28, 2020

By the final score of 14-12, #8 seed Don’t Touchdown There got a hard-fought win over #9 seed INDY Team #10 in Round 1 of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Flag Football League Playoffs.  Don’t Touchdown There brought their A game in this contest, topping their average of 8.60 points per game. QB Ryan Murphy tossed one score, which was caught by Tommy, and ran for one with his legs. With the win, Don’t Touchdown There would advance into the Quarterfinals and immediately take on #1 seed Sudden Impact (6-1). More on this game below. Even with the L on their record, INDY Team #10 really played their A game on offense in this one, exceeding their average of 8.30 points per game this year. In the loss for INDY Team #10, WR Jacob Reiner was on the receiving end of TD passes from Brendan Beck and Dominic Taylor. While this is certainly not the way INDY Team #10 was hoping their season would end, they competed hard each and every week. Week hope to see them back on the field next season!

 

Sudden Impact (6-1) v. Don’t Touchdown There (2-6) – Wednesday, October 28, 2020

#1 seed Sudden Impact blanked #8 seed Don’t Touchdown There 26-0 in the Quarterfinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Flag Football League. Sudden Impact are one of the highest-scoring teams in the league, averaging 23.9 points per game. QB Blake Hammond tossed four scores in this game for Sudden Impact, connecting with Dan Fricano for two of them. With this Quarterfinals victory, Sudden Impact advance into the Semifinals where they now will await the winner of the #4 seed TD Train (4-2) vs. #5 seed Loaded (4-2) game coming up on Wednesday night. The winner of this Semifinals match-up will advance into the Championship game and compete for the league title. Don’t Touchdown There were unable to bring their winning momentum from their Round 1 victory into this one and were held scoreless for the fourth time this season. Don’t Touchdown There’s season came to an end with this loss in the Quarterfinals, but they have a very nice overall season. We hope to see this squad competing once again for the league title next season!

 

KaBoom! (3-5) v. Chicago Beers (1-6) – Wednesday, October 28, 2020

Grabbing the same result as they did back in Week 5, #7 seed KaBoom! won the rematch between these two clubs. #7 seed KaBoom! put 28 on the board and held #10 seed Chicago Beers to just 12 points in Round 1 of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Flag Football League. KaBoom! brought it in this one, beating their average of 15.90 ppg. QB Shaun Himmerick delivered three passing scores, finding Lonnie Buggs for two of them. Alex Del Muro came up huge on the defensive end as well for KaBoom! in this one, recording a Defensive TD to help seal this victory. With the win, KaBoom! would stay on the field and take on #2 seed Lime Cats (5-2) in the Quarterfinals. More on this game below. Chicago Beers really brought their best on the offensive end in this one even though they lost, topping their average of 10.30 ppg for the year. For Chicago Beers, QB Nathan Albertini tossed two scores, finding Ryan Geidner and Liam Gorman for their squads only scores in this game. This Round 1 loss ended Chicago Beers season a little sooner than they had hoped, but they battled hard every week. We hope to see this crew back on the field next season!

 

Lime Cats (5-2) v. KaBoom! (3-5) – Wednesday, October 28, 2020

QB Tomas Ross tossed three TD passes to three different receivers as Lime Cats advanced into the Semifinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Flag Football League with a solid 27-14 victory over KaBoom! in the Quarterfinals. Lime Cats really showed up in this one, beating their average of 23.40 points per game. On the defensive end of the field, Morgan Cook came up with a huge Defensive TD to help seal this Quarterfinals victory for the Lime Cats. Lime Cats advance into the Semifinals coming up on Wednesday night with a match-up against Letz Werk (5-2). Winner of this game will move on and into the Championship game to play for the league title. KaBoom! struggled to mimic their Round 1 offensive performance in this one, scoring less than their average of 15.90 points per game for the year. For KaBoom!, QB Shaun Himmerick connected with Alex Del Muro and Hassan Myles for their only scores in this game. QB Shaun Himmerick finishes the season with 16 Passing TDs, currently fourth overall in the league. KaBoom! end their season with an overall 3-5 record. We hope to see them competing for a championship once again next season!

 

Letz Werk (5-2) v. WAWG (4-3) – Wednesday, October 28, 2020

With a final score of 27-6 over #6 seed WAWG in the Quarterfinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Flag Football League, #3 seed Letz Werk now officially have their eyes on the prize. Letz Werk are the highest-scoring team in the league, averaging 30.0 ppg, and they showed that offensive power once again in this Quarterfinals victory. The leagues leader in Passing TDs and Total TDs, QB Damon Clark threw three more touchdowns in this one, connecting with Rim for all three. With this dominating Quarterfinals victory, Letz Werk set up a match-up with #2 seed Lime Cats (5-2) coming up on Wednesday night in the Semifinals. The winner of this contest will move on and into the Championship game where they will compete for the league title. In the loss for #6 seed WAWG, QB Andre Locke hit Leshawn Ward for their only score in this game. While this is certainly not the way WAWG expected their season to end, WAWG was one of the best teams in this league. We hope to see them back on the field next season competing for another championship!
