Tuesday Sheridan Park TURF Coed INT 7v7 Soccer – Playoffs Recap

Team Steinborn (7-1-0) vs. INDY Team #4 (1-6-0) – Tuesday, September 1, 2020

Fifteen total goals were scored over the span of 40 minutes on Tuesday evening at the Sheridan Park TURF Field as #1 Team Steinborn topped #4 seed INDY Team #4 in a thrilling 10-5 semifinal match. Seven different players knocked in a goal for Team Steinborn in this contest, including Mitchell Reavis, Brandon and Adam who all knocked in two apiece to help Team Steinborn advance into the Championship game. They would need to step back onto the field and take on #2 ASPCA for the league title. More on this game below. INDY Team #4 gave it their best shot in this contest, scoring a season-high five goals to keep this game competitive. Jonathan Simpson and Pritha knocked in two goals apiece but unfortunately for these two and the rest of the INDY Team #4 crew, it just was not enough to get past a determined Team Steinborn squad. INDY Team #4 battled in every game this season; they just could not seem to get on the right side of the final results. We look forward to seeing them on the field during the Fall season!

ASPCA (6-2-0) vs. Club Rez (2-5-0) – Tuesday, September 1, 2020

#3 seed Club Rez could not field enough starters to play a legal game on Tuesday night in the semifinals of the Tuesday Sheridan Park TURF Coed Rec 8v8 Soccer Playoffs and had to take a forfeit loss to #2 ASPCA. It is certainly not the ending Club Rez were looking for heading into the season. We look forward to seeing them back on the field in the Fall! The win for ASPCA advanced them into the Championship game and would see them take on #1 Team Steinborn in the league title game. More on this game below.

Team Steinborn (7-1-0) vs. ASPCA (6-2-0) – Tuesday, September 1, 2020

#1 Team Steinborn and #2 ASPCA would meet in the Championship game on Tuesday night at the Sheridan Park TURF field as both squads came away with victories in their respective semifinals matches. This would be the third time these two squads met this season, with #2 ASPCA winning the battle in Week 1 of the regular season by a final score of 10-5 before #1 Team Steinborn returned the favor in Week 4 with a final score of 9-5. This game was setup to be an instant classic. Unfortunately for #2 ASPCA, they could not find any offense in this contest and suffered a lopsided 12-1 defeat. Matt Bubna-Litic scored the only goal for ASPCA to save them from a shutout and get their team on the scoreboard in this Championship match. ASPCA must have surely been hoping for more in this contest but the fact that they made it to the Championship game is great accomplishment. We hope to see them make another run at the title in the upcoming Fall season!  For #1 Team Steinborn, it was an almost perfect season outside of their Week 1 loss to #2 ASPCA. Eight different players tallied their names onto the scorer’s sheet as they walked away with a huge 12-1 victory to take home the Tuesday Sheridan Park TURF Coed 7v7 League title!  Congratulations to #1 Team Steinborn.  We hope to see them defend their title in the upcoming Fall season!
