Swamp Donkeys (7-1) v. The Wolf-pack (1-6) – Saturday, September 12, and 2020

The Wolf-pack came up on the short end of a 19-0 loss in the semifinals of the Lincoln Park TURF Men’s INT 7v7 Flag Football League Playoffs on a rainy Saturday morning. The fourth ranked The Wolf-pack were shut down by the #1 ranked Swamp Donkeys, being held scoreless for the fifth time this season. Garrett May was all over the field for the Swamp Donkeys in this contest, passing a TD to Matthew Leja while also rushing in a score of his own. May was all over the defensive end of the field as well, taking a pick-6 to the house to seal the victory. The win advanced Swamp Donkey into the championship game and would take on the winner of the INDY Team #3 vs. Saturday’s Are Ferda Boys game. More on this game below. The Wolf-pack had struggles on offense all season, and the same held true in their semifinals game against #1 ranked Swamp Donkeys. While they were hoping for much this season, they still competed whenever they took the field. We hope to see them make another run at the title in the upcoming Fall season!

INDY Team #3 (5-3) v. Saturday’s Are Ferda Boys (2-5) – Saturday, September 12, and 2020

#3 seed Saturday’s Are Ferda Boys could not field enough players to play a legal game and forfeited to #2 seed INDY Team #3 in the semifinals of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Men’s INT 7v7 Flag Football league. The win advanced INDY Team #3 into the Championship game where they would take on #1 seed Swamp Donkeys for the league title. More on this game below. Saturday’s Are Ferda Boys struggled with some roster issues this season but then they took the field, they were a tough beat for every other team. We hope to see them back on the field in the upcoming Fall season!

Swamp Donkeys (7-1) v. INDY Team #3 (5-3) – Saturday, September 12, and 2020

QB Garrett May passed for a playoff-high three TDs to three different receivers, the teams leader in receiving TDs, Don Jackson was on the receiving end of one of them, and #1 seed Swamp Donkeys grinded out a 22-18 win over #2 seed INDY Team #3 in the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Men’s INT Flag Football Championship game. Swamp Donkeys made a few chunk plays rushing, but it was the aerial attack that made the difference in this title game. #2 seed INDY Team #3 really struggled defensively in this contest, allowing more than their average of 6.75 PAPG for the regular season. In fact, it was the most points that they have allowed in a game all season. For INDY Team #3, QB Scott Burchett tossed for three TD scores to two different receivers. Unfortunately, it just was not enough to keep up with the determined Swamp Donkeys crew. It was a great season for both squads, and we hope to see them both back on the TURF in the upcoming Fall season competing for another title!
