Monday Wells High School Men’s 7v7 Outdoor Soccer League Recap – Playoffs Week 1

Vitamin O Yeah (6-3) vs. INDY Team #6 (1-5) – Monday, November 02, 2020

Grabbing the same result for the third time this season, #4 seed Vitamin O Yeah beat #5 seed INDY Team #6 8-2, this time in the Quarterfinals of the Monday Wells TURF Men’s 7v7 Soccer League. Hunter Somers and Stephen each tallied a hat trick to lead the Vitamin O Yeah attack. Robert Johnson and Ryan Murphy also added one goal apiece to help Vitamin O Yeah secure their spot in the Semifinals. Vitamin O Yeah could not celebrate this victory for too long as they would need to stay on the pitch and immediately take on #1 seed Cacatuas FC (5-2) in the Semis. More on this game below. INDY Team #6 really were unable to get rolling in this one, scoring fewer than their average of 2.3 goals per game this season. Robert Rashid was the star player for INDY Team #6 this week as they fired in both goals for them. This Quarterfinals loss ends INDY Team #6’s season a little sooner than they had hoped. They competed hard each week and we hope to see them all back on the pitch next season!

 

Vitamin O Yeah (6-3) vs. Cacatuas FC (5-2) – Monday, November 02, 2020

#4 seed Vitamin O Yeah were feeling good coming into this Semifinals matchup with #1 seed Cacatuas FC as they just walked away with a huge Quarterfinals win. #4 seed Vitamin O Yeah would ride that momentum in this Semifinals match and walk away with a huge 1-0 upset victory. Stephen was once again the hero for Vitamin O Yeah in this one, knocking in the games only goal to carry their squad into the Finals. Shout-out to goalkeeper, Connor Bybee of Vitamin O Yeah, for this huge shutout! This Semifinals victory advances #4 seed Vitamin O Yeah into the Championship game coming up on Monday night where they will take on #2 seed Beercelona (5-2) to crown our league champion. Despite the loss, Cacatuas FC has been doing great on offense prior to this Semifinals match, knocking in 25 goals during the regular season. Unfortunately, they could not find the net in this one and suffered only their second defeat of the season. This time to end their season. Overall, it was a fantastic season for this crew, and we hope to see them on the pitch next season competing for another championship!

 

Vitamin O (5-3) vs. INDY Team #5 (1-7) – Monday, November 02, 2020

As was the case twice during the regular season, #3 seed Vitamin O won the third go-around against #6 seed INDY Team #5, this time in the Quarterfinals of the Monday Wells TURF Men’s 7v7 Soccer League. Vitamin O walked away with another huge 12-2 victory. Vitamin O are having a remarkable offensive season. They are averaging over 7 goals per game. Seven different players tallied their names onto the scorer’s sheet in this Quarterfinals victory for Vitamin O, led by Ryan Geidner who racked up a hat trick to pace the group’s offense. Vitamin O would look to ride this offensive momentum into the Semifinals as they would immediately go back onto the field and take on #2 seed Beercelona (5-2). More on this game below. INDY Team #5 were unable to stop anything in this game, surrendering more goals than their average of 8.1 goals against per game this season. The losing team still had notable players including Joe Hnilo and Justin J., who each knocked in one goal for INDY Team #5 to get their team on the board. While this is certainly not the way INDY Team #5 had hoped their season would end, they still battled hard every week. We hope to see them back on the pitch next season to give it another go!

 

Beercelona (5-2) vs. Vitamin O (5-3) – Monday, November 02, 2020

Three different players tallied their names onto the scorer’s sheet for #2 Beercelona in their Semifinals match with #3 seed Vitamin O in the Monday Wells TURF Men’s 7v7 Soccer League as they walked away with a exciting 3-2 victory to advance into the Finals. Gewargis Samuel lasered in their first postseason goal for Beercelona to help gain the team this huge Semifinals victory. Coming up on Monday night, Beercelona will take the pitch against #4 seed Vitamin O Yeah (6-3-0) to crown our league winner. Vitamin O could not find that same offensive magic from their Quarterfinals match-up as suffered a tough 3-2 defeat to end their season in the Semifinals. The losing team still had notable players including Sandro Silva, who fired in one goal for Vitamin O to keep their squad in this game. It was a fantastic run for the Vitamin O crew and we hope to see them back on the pitch next season competing for another championship!
