Fall 2020 Sunday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer – Week 2 Recap

Plague (2-0) vs. No Punt Intended (0-2) – Sunday, September 27, 2020

Plague controlled this game in shut out fashion against No Punt Intended with a final score of 2-0. Two goals combined with a defense that allowed zero goals, propelled Plague over No Punt Intended in week 2. Guiding the crew’s offensive attack, Nick Stuedemann accounted for both goals for Plague. Shout-out to goalie, Bogdan Horopciuc, for the shutout for the second week in a row! Plague will try to stay atop the Standings with another W in week 3. Next up is a battle with Cat Facts FC (2-0-0) coming up in week 3 with first place in the league standings on the line. No Punt Intended really were unable to get rolling on the offensive end in this one, scoring less than their total from their Week 1 matchup. Good news is that they still have four more games to get rolling offensively before the postseason begins. As for No Punt Intended they’ll move on to a contest with Trash Foot (1-1-0) as they attempt to bounce back from this defeat and record their first point(s) of the season.

 

Trash Foot (1-1) vs. FC Indy (1-1) – Sunday, September 27, 2020

Kevin Hendrickson scored the game’s only goal as Trash Foot defeated FC Indy, 1-0, on Sunday morning in week 2 of the Sunday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. Trash Foot really brought it in this game, topping their first game point total. Trash Foot’s goalie, James Neher, played phenomenally in this contest and got a shutout to help his squad record their first points of the season. Trash Foot will attempt to snatch another three points with another W coming up in week 3. This week Trash Foot will go toe to toe with No Punt Intended (0-2-0) as they look to record back-to-back victories for the first time this season. FC Indy were unable to get rolling on offense in this game, scoring fewer than their total from their first matchup. FC Indy did everything they could to get at least a point out of this game, unfortunately Trash Foot’s goalie would not allow that. For FC Indy they will have a showdown against bend it like Beckham (0-1-1) coming up in week 3 as they look to shake off this heartbreaking defeat.

 

Cat Facts FC (2-0) vs. bend it like Beckham (0-1-1) – Sunday, September 27, 2020

Cat Facts FC and bend it like Beckham competed in a Game where the defenses dominated, totaling three goals. Cat Facts FC took home the thrilling 2-1 victory. Cat Facts FC are heating up, winning both of their games so far this season. They are only one of two teams remaining in the league that have yet to suffer a defeat. Alex Perkowski and Sam Macias scored the teams two goals to provide the offense for Cat Facts FC in this one. GK Adam Jabs was solid in net as well for Cat Facts FC as he refused to allow the tying goal and helped secure the full three points. Coming up in week 3 Cat Facts FC will go toe to toe with Plague (2-0-0), with first place in the league standings on the line. bend it like Beckham really struggled to get it going on offense in this game, scoring fewer than their total from their first match. Natalia Lata scored the only goal for bend it like Beckham to at least prevent the shutout. For bend it like Beckham next up is a game against FC Indy (1-1-0) as they attempt to rebound from this tough defeat and record their first victory of the season.

 

Chicago Brewers (1-1) vs. Ball Somewhat Hard (0-1-1) – Sunday, September 27, 2020

Ball Somewhat Hard hoped to bounce back from their tough opening day draw in week 1 with a matchup against Chicago Brewers in week 2, but it was not meant to be, as the Chicago Brewers side worked them over in a 5-1 thrashing Sunday at the Lincoln Park TURF Field. Ball Somewhat Hard really were unable to get rolling on offense in this one, scoring less than their total from their first matchup. David Raffa scored the only goal for Ball Somewhat Hard to get their team on the board. For Ball Somewhat Hard they’ll move on to a pairing with Fineberg (1-1-0) coming up in week 3 as they attempt to get into the win column for the first time this season. Chicago Brewers really brought it in this game, topping their opening game point total. Heidi Killinger fired in two goals and earned the most tallies on the scoresheet for Chicago Brewers. Brandon Egger, Andrew Schenkel and Marco Gonzalez provided the other three goals to help seal this week 2 victory. For Chicago Brewers, each game is a crucial opportunity to build momentum as the season gets going. This week Chicago Brewers will play INDY Team #5 (1-1-0) as they attempt to record back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

 

Fineberg (1-1) vs. INDY Team #5 (1-1) – Sunday, September 27, 2020

Fineberg played well in week 2 of the Sunday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League and blanked INDY Team #5 with a final score of 2-0. Fineberg really brought their A game in this one, exceeding their opening game point total. Fineberg’s goalkeeper Sonia Ahluwalia deserves much of the credit for this victory after earning a clean sheet. Sonia Ahluwalia also knocked in one of the squads two goals to spearhead the club’s attack. For Fineberg, every week is a crucial game to heat up as the season gets going. This week Fineberg will battle Ball Somewhat Hard (0-1-1) in an attempt to record consecutive victories. INDY Team #5 really struggled to get it going on offense in this game, scoring fewer than their total from their first match. INDY Team #5 certainly had their chances in this contest, they unfortunately just could not convert them into goals. As for INDY Team #5 next up is a showdown against Chicago Brewers (1-1-0) as they strive to bounce back from this disappointing week 2 defeat.
