Fall 2018 Tuesday Montrose Soccer – Week 7 (Play-offs)

France (2-5-1) vs. Bad n Boothie (0-6) – Tuesday, October 30, and 2018

It was an exciting lay-in match-up, in which the #7 seed, France, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #10 seed, Bad n Boothie. Bad n Boothie didn’t have their best stuff in this game, and failed to make it onto the scoreboard. The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for France, John Shapiro, who had a shutout, and Sam Provano who scored the only goal of the game. Hopefully the loss doesn’t haunt Bad n Boothie too much. There’s always next season. Winning this play-in game means France advanced to Quarter-Finals. INDY Team #4 (2-6) vs. IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS (1-6) – Tuesday, October 30, and 2018

This play-in match, in which the #9 seed, INDY Team #4, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #8 seed, IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS. IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS really were unable to stop anything in terms of defense in this one, allowing more goals than their average of 3.4 GAPG this season. Kyle Breitenbach was the star player for IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS this week. He scored all three goals for their team. IRI BIG DATA BIG KICKS is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon. Alex leads INDY Team #4 this season in scoring and added 2 goals to their stats this week bringing Alex ‘s personal total to 6. Bradley Murtonen and Matthew Fahey also scored one goal each. Also deserving some credit was the goalkeeper Sarah Clark. Winning this play-in game means INDY Team #4 advanced to Quarter-Finals. They jumped straight into the next round in the same night, and you can continue to follow their playoff journey in the game recap below.

 

Asset Kickers 2 (6-1) vs. INDY Team #4 (2-6) – Tuesday, October 30, and 2018

In this Quarter-final game, the #1 seed, Asset Kickers 2, matched up against the #9 seed, INDY Team #4. The last time these two teams met in week 2, Asset Kickers 2 won 4-2. This time around, the results weren’t much different.  Mike Jarzabek is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Asset Kickers 2. Helping on the offense, Jared Ernst and Sarah Massey were among those who scored in this playoff win for Asset Kickers 2. This week’s win advances Asset Kickers 2 to semi-finals. They’ll face the #5 ranked team, Rooney Tunes in a rematch. Last time they played each other Asset Kickers 2 won 4-0. INDY Team #4 is done with playoffs, which means it’s time for a team meeting at the bar to regroup for next season!

 

Peter’s Peaches (4-0-2) vs. France (2-5-1) – Tuesday, October 30, and 2018

No one expected this Quarter-final game to be such a close one. Peter’s Peaches, the #2 seed just squeaked by in this 1-point game to beat the #7 seed, France. Peter’s Peaches seems to have found their groove and has won two games in a row. The two MVPs in this close match were the goalkeeper for Peter’s Peaches, Nikil Satish, who had a shutout, and Conor McCarthy who scored the only goal of the game. This week’s win advances Peter’s Peaches to semi-finals. They’ll face the #6 seed, Chubby Alonsos and the winner will move on to the championship match. Hopefully the loss doesn’t haunt France too much. There’s always next season.

 

Chubby Alonsos (5-2) vs. NUPT (4-2-1) – Tuesday, October 30, and 2018

In this exciting 1-point Quarter-final game, Chubby Alonsos, the #6 seed upset the #3 seed, NUPT.  Ben Prictor led their team to victory with a hat-trick plus 1. The win for Chubby Alonsos means a ticket to semi-finals. They’re scheduled to play the #2 seed, Peter’s Peaches. Whichever team emerges as the winner will advance to the championship game. NUPT really struggled to stop anything on the defensive end in this one, giving up more goals than their average of 1.3 goals against per game this year. The losing team still had notable players including Colin McReavy, who scored two goals for NUPT. This is the end of the road for NUPT’s run in this league. There’s always next season!

 

Rooney Tunes (5-2-1) vs. Lee’s Army (4-3-1) – Tuesday, October 30, and 2018

The 4th place vs 5th place game is always one of the most exciting matches of the playoff bracket. With a final score of 2-1, Rooney Tunes grabbed this W. Lee’s Army struggled to get it going on the offensive end in this game, scoring less than their average of 1.8 goals per game this season. Jon Chao scored the only goal for Lee’s Army to prevent the shut out. Lee’s Army is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.  Chris Garcia leads Rooney Tunes this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week bringing Chris Garcia’s personal total to 6. The win for Rooney Tunes means a ticket to semi-finals. They’re scheduled to play the #1 ranked team, Asset Kickers 2. When they played each other earlier this season, Asset Kickers 2 won 4-0.
