Fall 2018 Thursday Montrose TURF Coed 8v8 Soccer – Week 7

Pup N Suds (1-7) vs. Hot Messi (2-5-1) – Thursday, November 15, and 2018

In this play-in game, the #8 seed, Hot Messi, took on the #9 seed, Pup N Suds. The last time these two teams met in week 3, Hot Messi won 6-0. Unfortunately for Hot Messi, Pup N Suds came back with a vengeance and defeated them 4-2. Hot Messi was unable to put up much of a defense in this game, giving up more goals than their average of 2.9 GAPG this year. Jose Vidal was the star player for Hot Messi this week. He scored both goals for them. In the win for Pup N Suds, Ansley Ostiguy scored two goals, and Molly Mrzlak and John D scored one goal each. Hot Messi is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon. Winning this play-in game means Pup N Suds advanced to Quarter-Finals. They jumped straight into the next round in the same night, and you can continue to follow their playoff journey in the game recap below.

 

Grass Kickers (6-1-1) vs. Pup N Suds (1-7) – Thursday, November 15, and 2018

In this quarter-final game, the #1 seed, Grass Kickers, took on the #9 seed, Pup N Suds. Robert Thomashow is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Grass Kickers. Helping on the offense, Bobby Glasgow and Nathaniel Weber both scored one goal in this playoff win for Grass Kickers. Grass Kickers advance to the semi-finals where they’ll take on the #4 ranked team, Not So Indy. These two teams have history. They matched up in week 3 with Grass Kickers emerging as the victor 3-2. Unfortunately for Pup N Suds, this loss means the end of their season.

 

ABCDE FC Dyslexia United (2-4-1) vs. Internazionale Chicago (4-4) – Thursday, November 15, and 2018

In this exciting 1-point quarter-final game, ABCDE FC Dyslexia United, the #7 seed upset the #2 seed, Internazionale Chicago. Internazionale Chicago really didn’t have their best stuff in terms of scoring in this one, scoring less than their average of 1.5 GPG this year. Brett scored the only goal for Internazionale Chicago to prevent the shut out. Nick Tollefson leads ABCDE FC Dyslexia United this season in scoring and added 2 goals to their stats this week bringing Nick Tollefson’s personal total to 3. This is the end of the road for Internazionale Chicago’s run in this league. There’s always next season!  This week’s win advances ABCDE FC Dyslexia United to semi-finals. They’ll face the #3 ranked team, New Team Who Dis in a rematch. Last time they played each other ABCDE FC Dyslexia forfeited to New Team Who Dis.

 

New Team Who Dis (4-1-2) vs. Kiss My Pass (3-4-1) – Thursday, November 15, and 2018

New Team was the higher ranked #3 seed playing the #6 seed, Kiss My Pass. They just barely took the win to advance to semi-finals. Dexter Biddick was among those who scored in this playoff win for New Team Who Dis, putting one shot past the Kiss My Pass goalkeeper, Thomas Sullivan. This week’s win advances New Team Who Dis to semi-finals. They’ll face the #7 ranked team, ABCDE FC Dyslexia United in a rematch. Kiss My Pass really didn’t have their best stuff in this one, scoring fewer than their average of 2.3 goals per game this year. Patrick Nemetz scored the only goal for Kiss My Pass to save his team from embarrassment. Kiss My Pass is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

 

Not So Indy (5-2-1) vs. Tzatziki Fuego (4-3-1) – Thursday, November 15, and 2018

The 4th place vs 5th place game is usually one of the most exciting matches of the playoff bracket. However, that wasn’t the case for this game. With a final score of 5-0, Not So Indy grabbed this W. To make things even more interesting, the last time these two teams met in week 1, they tied 2-2. Tzatziki Fuego struggled to get it going on the offensive end in this game and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. Tzatziki Fuego is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon. In the win John McDonough is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Not So Indy. Helping on the offense, Evan Hermans, Elliot Flores, John McDonough, and Zach Samaras were among those who scored in this playoff win for Not So Indy. Not So Indy advances semi-finals where they’ll take on the #1 ranked team, Grass Kickers. These two teams have history. They matched up in week 3 with Grass Kickers emerging as the victor 3-2.
