Fall 2018 Thursday CIBC Soccer – Week 6

Loose Balls (4-1-1) vs. INDY Team #9 (0-7) – Thursday, January 17, 2019

Loose Balls beat INDY Team #9 4-1 in this week’s match. This win is the second in a row for Loose Balls, and it bumps them to 4th place in the standings. Kathryn Palano and Peter Chung accounted for two goals each to help earn the squad the win. Loose Balls finished the regular season in 4th place, and they will play the 5th place seed, aTracktive44, in the quarter-final round. INDY Team #9 brought their best despite losing, topping their average of 0.9 GPG for the year. Ryan Morrissey scored the only goal for INDY Team #9 to save his team from embarrassment. It was a rough regular season for INDY Team #9, who finished as the 10th place seed. They’ll face the #7 seeded team, Cheeky Monkey (2-4-0).

 

Misfits (2-2-2) vs. Hot Messi (1-5) – Thursday, January 17, 2019

Misfits beat Hot Messi 3-1 in this week’s match. Hot Messi really were unable to get rolling in terms of scoring in this one, scoring fewer than their average of 1.2 GPG this season. Lukas Keapproth scored the only goal for Hot Messi to prevent the shut out. The one win they got this season wasn’t enough to make movement in the standings table as Hot Messi finished as the 9th place seed. They’ll face the #8 seeded team, Gogo (2-4-0).   Megan Morris,Peter Woods, and Paul all lasered in one goal each to help get the squad the win. Misfits’s win this week locked them in as the #6 seed. They’ll face the #3 seeded team, Chicago Handshakes. The last time these teams met, Chicago Handshakes won 3-1.

 

Make Mia Hamm Sandwich (5-1) vs. aTracktive44 (3-4) – Thursday, January 17, 2019

Make Mia Hamm Sandwich was incredible on both sides of the pitch against aTracktive44 with a final score of 8-0. aTracktive44 didn’t have their best stuff in this game, but they’ve had 11 overall goals this season. Make Mia Hamm Sandwich is heating up with two wins in a row. The club’s goalie Mike Martin got a shutout in this one. To help earn the club the win, Arthur Dinverno and Robbie scored two goals each. Also providing one goal each was Elizabeth Royston, Annaliese Walsten, Lauren Bosco, and Jamie Dinverno. The loss dropped aTracktive44 down to the #5 seed. They’ll face the # 4 seeded team, Loose Balls. It’s time for playoffs! Make Mia Hamm Sandwich is heating up with this week’s win, which lands them in 2nd place for the at the end of the regular season. Can they keep the streak going when they play the winner of the #7 vs. #10 seed game?

 

Chicago Handshakes (5-1) vs. Gogo (2-4) – Thursday, January 17, 2019

Chicago Handshakes beat Gogo 5-3 in this week’s match. Gogo struggled defensively in this game, allowing more goals than their average of 2.8 goals against per game this year. The losing team still had notable players including Caroline Blackwood, who scored two goals, and Sergio Carlos, who scored one goal for Gogo. In the win for Chicago Handshakes, Will got a hat trick with three goals and earned the most tallies on the scoresheet. The loss for Gogo leaves them as the #8 seed heading into playoffs. They’ll face the #9 seeded team, Hot Messi (1-5-0).   Chicago Handshakes’s win this week locked them in as the #3 seed. They’ll face the #6 seeded team, Misfits. The last time these teams met, Chicago Handshakes won 3-1.

 

Game of Throw-Ins (5-0-1) vs. Cheeky Monkey (2-4) – Thursday, January 17, 2019

Game of Throw-Ins beat Cheeky Monkey 3-1 in this week’s match. Game of Throw-Ins have consistently shown they are an attacking team. They’re averaging 4 goals per game. Ross Henry kicked two goals and Danis Berzins kicked one goal to steer the team’s offense. Cheeky Monkey really didn’t have their best stuff in this one, scoring less than their average of 2.3 goals per game for the year. Don scored the only goal for Cheeky Monkey to prevent the shut out. Game of Throw-Ins’s win this week solidified their spot as the #1 seed for playoffs next week. They’ll face the winner of the #8 vs. #9 seed game. The loss dropped Cheeky Monkey down to the #7 seed. They’ll face the #10 seeded team, INDY Team #9 (0-7-0).
