Loose Balls (6-1-1) vs. aTracktive44 (3-5) – Thursday, January 31, 2019

The 4th place vs 5th place game is always one of the most exciting matches of the playoff bracket. With a final score of 3-0, Loose Balls grabbed this W. The last time these two teams met in week 3, it was a close 1-point game with Loose Balls winning 2-1. aTracktive44 didn’t have their best stuff in terms of scoring in this one, but they’ve had 11 overall goals this season. aTracktive44 is done with playoffs, which means it’s time for a team meeting at the bar to regroup for next season! This week, Loose Balls was fired up for playoffs! Derek is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Loose Balls. Helping on the offense, Bridget Skinner, Daniel Nelson, and Derek were among those who scored in this playoff win for Loose Balls. Loose Balls advanced to semi-finals, and without a week to rest, jumped right into it as a double header. See how they did by reading the next recap.

 

Loose Balls (6-1-1) vs. Gogo (4-5) – Thursday, January 31, 2019

It was an exciting semi-final match, in which the #4 seed, Loose Balls, squeaked by with a 1-point, 3-2 win against the #8 seed, Gogo. AJ and Derek scored one goal each in this playoff win for Loose Balls, putting in one and two shots respectively past the Gogo goalkeeper, Ross Burnett. The exciting win for Loose Balls advanced them to the championship game. Read the Championship recap below to see how they finished. Gogo really were unable to put up much of a defense in this game, giving up more goals than their average of 2.7 goals against per game for the season. The losing team still had notable players including Sergio Carlos and Yassir Jermoumi, who kicked one goal each for Gogo. On the bright side for Gogo, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season.

 

Make Mia Hamm Sandwich (7-1) vs. Chicago Handshakes (6-2) – Thursday, January 31, 2019

In this semi-final game, the #2 seed, Make Mia Hamm Sandwich, won 4-3 against the #3 seed, Chicago Handshakes. In the win for Make Mia Hamm Sandwich, Robbie led his team to victory with a hat-trick. The exciting win for Make Mia Hamm Sandwich advanced them to the championship game. Read the Championship recap below to see how they finished. Despite the loss, Chicago Handshakes have been doing great on offense, with a total of 21 goals. The losing team still had notable players including Michael Koho, who kicked two goals, and Lauren Marshall, who kicked one goal for Chicago Handshakes. On the bright side for Chicago Handshakes, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season.

 

Make Mia Hamm Sandwich (7-1) vs. Loose Balls (6-1-1) – Thursday, January 31, 2019

In this exciting Championship Game, the #2 team, Make Mia Hamm Sandwich played the #4 team, Loose Balls, for the coveted Chicago Sport and Social Club long-sleeve champ shirts to forever capture their moment of glory. By the final score of 2-0, Make Mia Hamm Sandwich grabbed the Championship title! Mike Martin is the goalkeeper credited with the shutout for Make Mia Hamm Sandwich. Helping on the offense, Robbie and Al scored one goal each in this playoff win. Losing the championship game is never easy, but Loose Balls lost with grace. We hope to see them back next season for another chance at the title.  Congratulations to Make Mia Hamm Sandwich on a great season and their championship win! We hope to see this squad return to defend their title.
