Football Sundays 2.0 (3-5) vs. Rugrats (0-7) – Sunday, January 27, 2019

It was an exciting Round 1 match-up, in which the #6 seed, Football Sundays 2.0, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #11 seed, Rugrats. Rugrats have had a rough season. It’s week 7 and they’ve only scored a total of 3 goals. Eric Herrman scored the only goal for Rugrats to prevent the shut out. Rugrats’s loss means they are done in this single-elimination playoff schedule. Football Sundays 2.0 was fired up for playoffs. Mike Goldberg leads Football Sundays 2.0 this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week bringing Mike Goldberg’s personal total to 9. Blue Barracudas (3-5) vs. INDY Team #11 (1-4-2) – Sunday, January 27, 2019

The #7 seed, Blue Barracudas, barely moved on to the next round of playoffs with a 1-point win against the #10 seed, INDY Team #11. Christopher Hines leads Blue Barracudas this season in scoring and added 2 goals to their stats this week bringing Christopher Hines’s personal total to 7. Also providing some scoring was Andrew Vinke with one goal. Winning this play-in game means Blue Barracudas advanced to Quarter-Finals. It also means they had another game in the same night. Double headers are either great because players are warmed up for the second game, or a challenge because their legs are dead. Find out how they did in the recap below. Despite losing, INDY Team #11genuinely brought their best defensively, surrendering fewer than their average of 3.4 GAPG this season. The losing team still had notable players including Grant Wiseman and Dan L, who scored one goal each for INDY Team #11. INDY Team #11 is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.

 

For Fuch’s Sake (4-4-1) vs. Indy Team #2 (2-6) – Sunday, January 27, 2019

In this play-in game, the #8 seed, For Fuch’s Sake, took on the #9 seed, Indy Team #2. Bianca Rivera , John McMurray, and Shane Merriam were among those who scored in this playoff win for For Fuch’s Sake, putting one shot each past the Indy Team #2 goalkeeper, Alex Wess. Indy Team #2 was unable to get rolling on the offensive end in this game, scoring less than their average of 2.4 GPG for the year. Ben Bayles scored the only goal for Indy Team #2 to prevent the shut out. Winning this play-in game means For Fuch’s Sake advanced to quarter-finals. They jumped straight into the next round in the same night, and you can continue to follow their playoff journey in the game recap below. Hopefully the loss doesn’t haunt Indy Team #2 too much. For Fuch’s Sake (4-4-1) vs. Good Vibes Only (6-1) – Sunday, January 27, 2019

They weren’t the favored team, but For Fuch’s Sake, the #8 seed upset the #1 seed, Good Vibes Only, in this quarter-final game. For Fuch’s Sake increased their total goals scored to 23. Andy Adams leads For Fuch’s Sake this season in scoring and added 3 goals to their stats this week bringing Andy Adams’s personal total to 6. Shane also scored two goals in this win. For Fuch’s Sake advance to semi-finals and will play the winner of the #4 vs. #5 seed game. This is Good Vibes Only’s first loss of the season, but this was the only game that truly mattered. Henry scored the only goal for Good Vibes Only to get their team on the board. Unfortunately for Good Vibes Only, this loss means the end of their season.

 

Atletico WB (6-0-1) vs. Blue Barracudas (3-5) – Sunday, January 27, 2019

In this quarter-final game, the #2 seed, Atletico WB, took on the #7 seed, Blue Barracudas. Atletico WB are having an amazing offensive season. They’re averaging 5 goals per game. Patrick Hodan, Josh Hyde, Kyle Dedrick, and John Whiting were among those who scored in this playoff win for Atletico WB, putting 5 total goals past the Blue Barracudas goalkeeper, Andrew Vinke. This week’s win advances Atletico WB to semi-finals. They’ll face Bird’s Nest in a rematch. Last time they played each other the game ended in a 3-3 draw. This was one of two games for Blue Barracudas this week. In contrast to their other game, the defense crumbled in critical moments. James N scored the only goal for Blue Barracudas to get his team on the board. Blue Barracudas’ loss means they are done in this single-elimination playoff schedule.

 

Bird’s Nest (6-0-1) vs. Football Sundays 2.0 (3-5) – Sunday, January 27, 2019

In this quarter-final game, the #3 seed, Bird’s Nest, took on the #6 seed, Football Sundays 2.0. Mike Goldberg scored the only goal for Football Sundays 2.0 to save his team from embarrassment. Bird’s Nest is having a fantastic offensive season. They’re averaging 5 goals per game. Steve Wilhusen leads Bird’s Nest this season in scoring and added 3 goals to their stats this week bringing Steve Wilhusen’s personal total to 14, which is the highest in the league. Also providing some scoring for Bird’s Nest is Tiffany Brugman, Jessica T, Mike, and Tom D with one goal each. Unfortunately for Football Sundays 2.0, this loss means the end of their season.  Bird’s Nest advances to semi-finals where they’ll take on Atletico WB. These two teams have history. They matched up in week 1 and finished with a 3-3 tie.
