Fall 2018 Saturday Lincoln Park Coed Rec Flag Football -Week 8

Mongrels (8-0) v. Off In The Shower (5-3) – Saturday, November 3, and 2018

In this Semi-final game, the #1 seed, Mongrels, took on the #4 seed, Off In The Shower. The final score of 26-19 reflects the hard work Mongrels put into every minute of the game.  They really fought hard for this game, prevailing despite allowing more points than their season points against average of 16.5 points per game. QB Mark Macleod passed three scores, finding Panos M for two of them, and Danny for the other. During the loss for Off In The Shower, QB Dave Wolfson hit Jake Ruzas for two touchdowns, and Lisa Willeumier for the other. They dominated in the regular season, and it’s no surprise Mongrels advanced to the Championship game. Read the recap below to find out how they did. Off In The Shower had a great run this season but they will not be advancing to the next round of playoffs.

 

Run and Gun (4-3-1) v. Shark Attack (6-2) – Saturday, November 3, and 2018

They weren’t the favored team, but Run and Gun, the #6 seed upset the #2 seed, Shark Attack, in this Semi-final match. By the score of 39-13, Run and Gun got a dominant win. This team brought it on the defensive end in this one, beating their season points against average of 31.8 points per game. QB Richie Foreman passed four touchdowns, hitting Derrick for two of them, Ralph May and Kevin for one touchdown each, and ran in two on his own.  For Shark Attack, in the loss, QB Dave Wolfson hit Nancy and Mike Pauletti for one touchdown each. The semi-final win for Run and Gun advanced them to the championship game. Read the Championship recap below to see how they finished. On the bright side for Shark Attack, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season.

In this Championship Game, the #1 team, Mongrels played the #6 team, Run and Gun, for the coveted Chicago Sport and Social Club long-sleeve champ shirts to forever capture their moment of glory. Mongrels put 34 on the board and held Run and Gun to 27 points. They battled for this one, earning the victory despite allowing more points than their season points against average of 16.5 ppg. QB Mark Macleod threw four TDs, hitting Danny and Jenny for one touchdown each. In the loss, QB Richie Foreman threw three passes finding Derrick, Ralph, and Rich for one touchdown each and ran in one on his own. With an undefeated season and a blowout championship win, Mongrels may want to consider a more competitive league for next season. But whichever Chicago Sport and Social Club league they decide to play in, they’re going to be a tough match for any opponent. Congratulations on your victory! Run and Gun went from the #6 at the end of the season to the championship game, which is a victory in itself. Although they lost, they had a great playoff run and they have next season to look forward to.
