Fall 2018 Monday Lincoln Park 8v8 Soccer (no goalies) – Week 7

KH Kicks (5-2-1) vs. Stantec (2-5) – Monday, October 29, and 2018

KH Kicks, the #2 seed, played the #7 seed, Stantec in this Quarter-final game. The last time these two teams met in week 4, KH Kicks won 6-1. No surprise here, the results were very similar this time with KH Kicks winning 4-0.  KH Kicks have consistently shown they are an attacking team. They’re averaging 3 goals per game. Helping on the offense, Adis Sulejmanovic, Jason Erickson, Eddie Min, and Ian Kirk were among those who scored in this playoff win for KH Kicks. Stantec was unable to get rolling on offense in this game and failed to make it onto the scoreboard. KH Kicks advances to semi-finals where they’ll take on Can I Kick It?. These two teams have history. They matched up in week 4 and finished with a 2-2 tie. Stantec had a rough run this season, and they will not be advancing to the next round of playoffs.

 

Can I Kick It? (4-2-2) vs. CannonDesign (2-5-1) – Monday, October 29, and 2018

It was an exciting Quarter-final game, in which the #3 seed, Can I Kick It?, squeaked by with a 1-point win against the #6 seed, CannonDesign. Despite losing, CannonDesign gave it their all on the offensive end in this game, beating their average of 1.5 goals per game this season.  On the bright side for CannonDesign, this loss means they can save their legs and recharge for next season. This week’s win advances Can I Kick It? to semi-finals. They’ll face KH Kicks in a rematch. Last time they played each other the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

 

INDY Team #3 (3-4-1) vs. Boarding Group 6 (3-4-1) – Monday, October 29, and 2018

The 4th place vs 5th place game is always one of the most exciting matches of the playoff bracket. With a final score of 2-1, INDY Team #3 grabbed this W. These teams had similar records with 3 wins each. Alexandra Lorimer was among those who scored in this playoff win for INDY Team #3, putting one shot past the Boarding Group 6 goalkeeper. This win advanced INDY Team #3 to semi-finals, which was played as a double header. The exciting recap of that game is below. Boarding Group 6 was unable to get rolling in terms of scoring in this one, scoring less than their average of 2.3 goals per game for the season. Lauren R scored the only goal for Boarding Group 6 to help them get into overtime. Unfortunately for Boarding Group 6, this loss means the end of their season.

 

Lurie Children’s (5-2) vs. INDY Team #3 (3-4-1) – Monday, October 29, and 2018

No one expected this Semi-final game to be such a close one. Lurie Children’s, the #1 seed just squeaked by in this 1-point game to beat the #5 seed, INDY Team #3. Stephen Stacey scored the only goal for INDY Team #3 to save their team from embarrassment. They’re on fire! Pogba leads Lurie Children’s this season in scoring and added another goal to their stats this week bringing Pogba ‘s personal total to 9, which is the highest in the league. INDY Team #3 is done for the season and we hope to see them return for the start of the new league coming up soon.  The win for Lurie Children’s advances them to the championship game where they’ll take on the winner of Can I Kick it? vs. KH Kicks semi-final game.
