Madden Single-Elimination Tournament Rules
General Rules
Seeding for the start of the single-elimination tournaments will be randomized:
The home team is responsible for creating the head 2 head lobby and inviting the opponent to the match. To determine if you are the Home team, you'll see and (H) next to your team on the schedule. The Away team will be listed with (A).
Once the semifinals begin, the following tiebreakers will be used to determine the home team:
- Tiebreaker 1: Points Allowed
- Tiebreaker 2: Points Scored
- Tiebreaker 3: Higher (Random) Seeded team
(The home team is responsible for creating the head 2 head lobby and inviting opponent to the match)
THE WINNING TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUBMITTING THE SCORE TO THE TOURNAMENT ADMIN THROUGH THE DISCORD SERVER OR THE EMAIL ADDRESS OR TEXT NUMBER PROVIDED IN THE PRE-TOURNAMENT EMAIL.
Picking Teams
Every player is allowed to pick their preferred team. Teams can be picked before the start of the game. Players are allowed to use multiple teams throughout the tournament as they please. It is accepted to have the same teams play against each other (e.g. Giants v Giants). In that case, the ‘away’ player will have to pick the Away Jersey for that team. In general, ‘away’ players are responsible for picking the jersey that does not resemble the home team jersey.
Format Rules
- Games played via Madden Head to Head (H2H) mode
- Quarter length: 5 minutes
- Play clock: 40 Seconds
- Skill Level: All-Madden
- Accelerated Clock: Off
- Injuries: On
- Even Teams: Off
- Fatigue: On
If you play the game past halftime and initiate a dispute based on fatigue being off, your claim will automatically be considered invalid.
No faking kicks or punts; however, a team MAY go for it on 4th down from a non-special teams formation. If the ball is turned over, during an attempted fake, the rule is void. If the fake is successful, the player forfeits the match.
No onside kick until the 2nd half. If the ball is not recovered, the rule is void. If a player performs an onside kick and recovers in the first half, the player forfeits the match.
*Note:
Any setting not listed above should not be changed from the game’s default setting option.
Event Details (Single Elimination Tournament Series)
- Single Elimination events will not include a pool play round.
- Seeding for these tournaments will be randomized
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
*If a participant forfeits a match, the score will be recorded as 21-0
Prize Details

Disconnection Rules
We highly recommend recording video and/or taking a screenshot of any game disconnection evidence in case of a dispute.
If a game is disconnected, and a tournament official is there to observe, then tournament officials will determine if the game state can be restored to a similar point.
If a game is disconnected, and a tournament official IS NOT there to observe, then the competitors will use their judgment on how to restart the game. If the two competitors cannot agree, then the competitors must finish the remaining time of the match, keeping the score the same as it was in the game that got disconnected.
- Example: If the disconnection occurred at the end of the 1st quarter, the new game should be played until the end of the 3rd quarter.
- Example: A player disconnects at the 0:20 mark of the 3rd quarter with possession of the ball on the 50-yard line. The score of the game was 20-14. The game is to restart in the 1st quarter with the implied score to be 20-14 and the implied quarter to be the 3rd. The competitors will play until halftime to determine the winner
The following scoring parameters will determine a winner, in the event of a disconnect, if the competitors cannot agree on a solution.
- A Competitor has a 32 or greater point lead at any point in the first half.
- A Competitor has a 25 or greater point lead AND the disadvantaged Competitor has had at least one opportunity to possess the ball in the second half
- A competitor has an 18 or greater point lead by the 2-minute warning of the second half.
Sportsmanship Details
Unsportsmanlike activities including (but not limited to) trolling, cheating, and bullying will not be tolerated. Participants who cannot follow this rule will be eliminated from registered tournaments (without refund), and banned from upcoming tournaments. Examples of these offenses are:
- Offsides glitching
- Repeatedly committing penalties to slow the game down
- Verbal or written abuse via any communication platform
- Disconnection glitching
The result of a Competitor’s disconnection from a match depends on whether the disconnection was intentional. Whether or not a disconnection is deemed intentional or unintentional is in the sole discretion of the tournament officials.

Disconnection Rules / Unable to Connect
We highly recommend recording video and/or taking a screenshot of any game disconnection evidence in case of a dispute.
If a game is disconnected, and a tournament official is there to observe, then tournament officials will determine if the game state can be restored to a similar point.
If a game is disconnected, and a tournament official IS NOT there to observe, then the competitors will use their judgment on how to restart the game. If the two competitors cannot agree, then the game should be resumed with an implied score and the remaining time in the match played out.
- Example: A game disconnects at the 50th minute and the score of the game was 2-1 - the game is to resume in 1st half with the implied score to be 2-1 and the implied half to be the 2nd. The competitors will play until halftime to determine the winner.
The following scoring parameters will determine a winner, in the event of a disconnect, if the competitors cannot agree on a solution.
- A Competitor has a 7 or greater point lead at any point in the first half.
- A Competitor has a 5 or greater point lead at the 75-minute
If teams are unable to connect due to technical difficulties - i.e. the game continues to time out when attempting to create a match after several attempts, it should be recorded as a 0-0 draw. Some systems simply don't play nice with others. Just sit tight and wait for your next match.
