Athletico WB (7-1-1) vs. Cat Facts FC (6-2-1) – Sunday, September 13, 2020

#3 seed Athletico WB flashed its offensive firepower in a 5-0 win over #2 seed Cat Facts FC on Sunday morning in the semifinals of the Sunday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Soccer League Playoffs. Two different players tallied a score against Cat Facts FC, led by four fantastic goals by the leagues overall leading goal scorer, Patrick Hoden. Cat Facts FC really struggled to get it going in this game, being held scoreless for only the second time this entire season. The five goals allowed were also the most goals Cat Facts FC have allowed in any game this season. This was certainly not the way Cat Facts FC saw their season ending. This team competed hard week in and week out, and we hope we see them on the TURF in the upcoming Fall season!

Athletico WB (7-1-1) vs. Aston Birra (8-1-0) – Sunday, September 13, 2020

#1 seed Aston Birra and #3 seed Athletico WB would meet in the Championship game on Sunday afternoon at the Lincoln Park TURF field as both squads came away with victories in their respective semifinals matches. The coveted CSSC long-sleeve Championship shirts were worn on Sunday afternoon by Athletico WB after a lopsided, championship-clinching 4-0 victory over Aston Birra. A hat-trick by the leagues overall leading goal scorer Patrick Hoden and a consolation goal by Ben Potter were enough to seal the Championship for Athletico WB on Sunday afternoon. At the other end of the field, it was goalkeeper Brandon Medina who made save after save to complete a shutout in the Championship match. It was an amazing run for #3 Athletico WB this season and a very well-deserved title. Congratulations! For #1 seed Aston Birra, it was a great run to the title game, but they came up just short to a very determined and skilled Athletico WB group. It was the first time all season that Aston Birra failed to score a goal in a match and unfortunately it came during the title game. This is a very talented group of players that are always battling for the championship and we hope to see them on the field in the upcoming Fall season competing for another title!
