Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer – Week 5 Recap

Medix 10’s (3-2) vs. Jimmy’s U10s (2-2-1) – Saturday, October 17, 2020

Tightly contested competition is nothing new in the Windy City, and that was on full display on Saturday morning as Medix 10’s defeated Jimmy’s U10s by a final score of 1-0 in Week 5 of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. Jack was the hero on offense for Medix 10s in this contest as they scored their only goal to seal the victory. Medix 10’s goalie, Brandon Jones, got a clean sheet in this one as they stopped every shot that came their way. Medix 10’s could not celebrate this victory for too long however as they were scheduled for a double header in Week 5. They would immediately take the field to take on Aston Birra (3-2). More of this game below. Jimmy’s U10s were unable to get rolling in this one and suffered a shutout. This was the second time this season that Jimmy’s U10s failed to make it onto the scoreboard. Off In Public (0-5-0) are next up on the schedule for Jimmy’s U10s coming up in Week 6, as they look to get back on track and close out their regular season schedule on a high-note.

 

Chicago Cougars (3-2) vs. Off In Public (0-5) – Saturday, October 17, 2020

Chicago Cougars were amazing in this shut out against Off In Public in Week 5 of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League as they cruised to 6-0 victory. This win is the second in a row for Chicago Cougars, and it bumps them up into a tie for fourth place in the league standings with 9 total points. Five different players tallied their names onto the scorer’s sheet for Chicago Cougars in this one, with Jaime Soroa leading the way with two goals. Shout-out to keeper, Tj Wieneke, for the shutout! Goode FC (1-4-0) are next up on the schedule for Chicago Cougars coming up in Week 6, as they look to continue their climb up the standings board in their regular season finale. Off In Public struggled to get it going in this one, and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. This was the third time this season that Off In Public failed to make it onto the scoreboard. Off In Public seeks to get off the schneid coming up in Week 6 against Jimmy’s U10s (2-2-1).

 

Aston Birra (3-2) vs. Medix 10’s (3-2) – Saturday, October 17, 2020

Aston Birra shut out Medix 10’s with a final score of just 1-0 in Week 5 of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. Medix 10’s had two games this week. Sometimes double headers help you get in a groove, other times they lead to tired legs, and they now sit tied for fourth place in the league standings with only one regular season game remaining on their schedule. Next up for Medix 10’s is a match-up against Net Six and Chill (5-1-0) coming up in Week 6, as they look to get back into the winner’s circle and gain some momentum prior to the postseason beginning. Aston Birra also had two games this week on their schedule. Mike G. was the hero on offense in this contest against Aston Birra and scored their only goal. The defenders did a great job in this game as well by helping GK Daniel Mckasson earn a shutout! Aston Birra would need to step right back onto the field and take on Kellogg FC (2-2-1) in the second half of their double header. More on this game below.

 

Net Six and Chill (5-1) vs. INDY Team #6 (1-4) – Saturday, October 17, 2020

Net Six and Chill were in first place in the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League to start Week 5. They sure played like a first-place team on Saturday morning, blanking INDY Team #6 4-0. Net Six and Chill have now won three games in a row and are officially on fire. Charles Dotson fired in two goals to lead the way for Net Six and Chill in this contest as he raised his league-leading season total up to 5. The defenders are the unsung heroes of this match however for helping Jack Mccormick earn a clean sheet! Net Six and Chill will look to lock up the overall #1 seed for the upcoming postseason when they take the field versus Medix 10’s (3-2-0) coming up in Week 6. INDY Team #6 did not have their best stuff on offense in this one, scoring less than their average goals scored per game of 1.4. Next up for INDY Team #6 is a showdown versus Kellogg FC (2-2-1), as they attempt to rebound from this lopsided loss and improve their postseason seeding.

 

Kellogg FC (2-2-1) vs. Aston Birra (3-2) – Saturday, October 17, 2020

Kellogg FC and Aston Birra had a draw and ended with a stalemate at 1-1 in a hard-hitting match that featured plenty of end-to-end action in Week 5 of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. Morale for players on Kellogg FC must be starting to rise as they have recorded points in each of their last three games. Andrew Koultourides scored the team’s only goal, saving their team from defeat. Exiting week 5, Kellogg FC will look ahead to INDY Team #6 (1-4-0) who are next on the schedule coming up in Week 6 as they look to conclude their regular season schedule on a positive note. This was the second game for Aston Birra in Week 5. They won their first match, giving them 4 total points on the day. Victor Kamesar was the star player for Aston Birra in this contest. They scored the only goal for them, helping them secure the crucial point. For Aston Birra, they will face off with Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! played well in Week 5 of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League and blanked Goode FC with a final score of 2-0. This win is the second in a row for Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! and it bumps them into 2nd place in the league standings with only one regular season game remaining. Chris N. and Patrick Lawler fired in one goal apiece to lead the way offensively for their squad. Shout-out to goalie, Alex, for the shutout! Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! will try to keep a 0 in the loss column coming up in Week 6 with a showdown against Aston Birra (3-2-0). Goode FC did not have their best stuff in this game, suffering their second straight shutout defeat.
