Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer – Playoffs Week 1 Recap

Medix 10’s (5-3) vs. Off In Public (0-7) – Saturday, October 31, 2020

Just like earlier in the season back in Week 3, #7 seed Medix 10’s won the second go-around against #10 seed Off In Public in Round 1 of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. This game finished with a final score of 8-1. Shaun and Brandon Jones each tallied a hat-trick, while Dylan Koehler also got in the scoring fun for Medix 10’s in this one by providing a brace of their own. Medix 10’s could not celebrate this victory for too long however as they needed to stay on the pitch and immediately take on #2 seed Net Six and Chill (6-2) in the Quarterfinals. More on this game below. Off In Public really didn’t have their best showing on the defensive end in this game, giving up more goals than their average of 5.6 GAPG this year. Robert Cottingham scored the only goal for Off In Public to get their team on the board and help prevent the shutout. Off In Public see their season come to an end with this Round 1 loss but we hope we see them back on the pitch next season!

 

Goode FC (2-6) vs. INDY Team #6 (1-6) – Saturday, October 31, 2020

As they did earlier in the year back on opening day, #8 seed Goode FC won the rematch against #9 seed INDY Team #6 in Round 1 of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. This game had to be settled with a penalty kick shootout and finished with a final score of 2-1 in favor of Goode FC. Goode FC showed up in this game, exceeding their average of 1.0 goals per game. Ivan Soria knocked in the regulation goal for Goode FC to help their squad get into O.T. The win would see Goode FC advance into the Quarterfinals and immediately take on #1 seed Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! (6-0-1). More on this game below. Harvey Murphy scored the only goal for INDY Team #6 during regulation time to get their team into O.T.  Unfortunately for INDY Team #6, they came up just short in PKs. INDY Team #6’s season came to a close with this Round 1 loss, but we hope to see this crew back on the pitch competing once again next season!

 

Medix 10’s (5-3) vs. Net Six and Chill (6-2) – Saturday, October 31, 2020

#7 seed Medix 10’s shocked #2 seed Net Six and Chill in the Quarterfinals of the Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League as they walked away with a thrilling 1-0 victory. Medix 10’s had to win two games this week to keep their season alive. Incredibly, they won both matches, which means they are officially heating up and on their way to the Semifinals! To spearhead the club’s attack, John Patrick scored their only goal to lead them to this upset victory. The defenders did a great job in this game for Medix 10’s by helping Steven Lukaszewski earn a clean sheet. Medix 10’s will now move on to the Semifinals coming up on Saturday, November 14th where they will take on #3 seed Chicago Cougars (5-2). Winner of this game will advance to the Championship game and compete for the league title. Net Six and Chill was doing great on offense this season coming into this contest, leading the league with a total of 24 goals. Unfortunately for Net Six and Chill, they picked the wrong time to hit a cold spell and suffered their first shutout of the season. The loss ends Net Six and Chill’s season a little earlier than expected but overall, they had a fantastic season. We hope to see this crew back on the pitch competing for another championship next season!

 

Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! (6-0-1) vs. Goode FC (2-6) – Saturday, October 31, 2020

Just like earlier in the season back in Week 5, #1 seed Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! won the rematch against #8 seed Goode FC with a final score of 4-0, this time in the Quarterfinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! have a lot of scoring power. They are averaging 4 goals per game. John Henry Neuberger and Madison N. each recorded a brace to help steer the club’s offense in this one. The team’s goalkeeper, David Bodziony, got a clean sheet in this one to help their squad advance into the Semifinals. Coming up on Saturday, November 14th #1 seed Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! will take the field against #5 seed Kellogg FC (4-2-1) in the Semifinals with the winner advancing into the Championship game. Goode FC did not have their best stuff on offense in this game and failed to make it onto the scoreboard. It was the second time this season that Goode FC has been shutout by this Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! squad. The loss ends Goode FC’s season in the Quarterfinals, but we hope to see them back on the pitch next season competing for another championship!

 

Chicago Cougars (5-2) vs. Aston Birra (3-4) – Saturday, October 31, 2020

#3 seed Chicago Cougars cruised past #6 seed Aston Birra 4-1 in the Quarterfinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. First shout-out goes to Hector of Chicago Cougars who now has the most goals in the league with 7. Hector lasered in a brace to guide the team’s attack. Kristen Wouters and Uge Martinez each fired in a goal apiece to help Chicago Cougars seal this elimination game victory. The win advances #3 seed Chicago Cougars into the Semifinals coming up on Saturday, November 14th where they will take on #7 seed Medix 10’s (5-3). Winner of this game will advance and play in the Championship game for their chance to take home the league title. Aston Birra really struggled to get it going in terms of scoring in this game, scoring less than their average of 1.9 goals per game for the year. Sam Leschisin scored the only goal for Aston Birra to get their team on the board. Aston Birra’s season ends with this Quarterfinals defeat but they had a very successful season. We hope to see this squad back on the pitch competing once again next season!

 

Kellogg FC (4-2-1) vs. Jimmy’s U10s (3-3-1) – Saturday, October 31, 2020

#5 seed Kellogg FC and #4 seed Jimmy’s U10s were neck and neck in this contest up to the last minute with Kellogg FC walking away with a thrilling 4-3 victory in the Quarterfinals of the Wednesday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC/INT 8v8 Soccer League. Kellogg FC really showed up in this one, topping their average of 1.6 goals per game. Andrew Ritchie fired in a brace to help earn the team the elimination victory. The win sees Kellogg FC advance into the Semifinals coming up on Saturday, November 14th where they will take on #1 seed Fox & Robin presents; Soccer? I barely know her! (6-0-1). Winner of this match will advance into the Championship game where they will have their chance to take home the league title. Despite losing, Jimmy’s U10s has been doing great on the offensive end of the field this season, totaling 22 goals. Jimmy’s U10s still had notable players in this contest including Michael Farmer, Dom Brooke and Alex Pilnik who each knocked in one goal for Jimmy’s U10s to keep their squad in this game. For Jimmy’s U10s, their season came to an end a little sooner than they had hoped but overall, it was a very good season. We hope to see this crew back on the pitch next season competing for another championship!
