Saturday Lincoln Park TURF Coed REC 8v8 Soccer – Playoffs Week 2 Recap

Net Six and Chill (8-1-0) vs. Jimmy’s U10s (4-4-0) – Saturday, September 12, 2020

It took a whopping sixteen rounds of PKs to settle this semifinals match between Net Six and Chill and Jimmy’s U10s, but it was ultimately Net Six and Chill who got the final goal to send their team into the Championship game on Saturday afternoon at the Lincoln Park TURF Field. The match was tied 0-0 after regulation. Net Six and Chill’s goalkeeper, Charles Dotson, played extremely well in the regulation/overtime shutout. The victory would propel Net Six and Chill into the Championship game where they would await the winner of the Peaked in High School vs. Chicago Cougars game. More on this game below. Jimmy’s U10s struggled to get it going in terms of scoring in this one and came short of making it onto the scoreboard. They had their opportunities in both regulation and overtime, they just could not sneak the ball past the Net Six and Chill goalkeeper. It was a fantastic season for Jimmy’s U10s, and we hope to see them contending for another championship in the upcoming Fall season!

Chicago Cougars were unable to get rolling on offense in this one and suffered a shutout. It was the first time Chicago Cougars were held scoreless all season and it unfortunately came at the worst time. Even with this loss, Chicago Cougars had a wonderful season and we hope to see them back on the pitch in the Fall season contending for another title!

Net Six and Chill (8-1-0) vs. Peaked in High School (7-2-1) – Saturday, September 12, 2020

#1 seed Net Six and Chill won the Lincoln Park TURF Coed Rec 8v8 Soccer League Championship, defeating #3 seed Peaked in High School, 1-0 Saturday afternoon. After starting the regular season with a tough 1-0 loss to Peaked in High School, Net Six and Chill ripped off eight consecutive victories to claim the league title (and long-sleeve championship shirts)! Jack McCormick was the game’s hero with his game-winning goal. But the story of this game was Net Six and Chill’s defense and stellar goalkeeping from Charles Dotson that kept Peaked in High School away from the net. The game could have gone either way, but it just was not meant to be for Peaked in High School on this rainy Saturday afternoon. It was an amazing run to the championship game that came up just short for Peaked in High School. We look forward to seeing them back on the pitch in the upcoming Fall season contending for another league title!
